A spacious and well designed interior set.
Demerara Caribbean Style Sleeping Porch for DAZ Studio
Thanks for checking out Demerara! Demerara provides a wealth of golden hour light. You almost can't shoot a bad render with this set. Even if you try.
First, we'll cover how to find Demerara in your folder structure. After you've unzipped Demerara into your content folder of choice, look under "Architecture", "Causam3D", "Demerara".
I
Main folder:
1) Curtain dForce Recommended Settings for the scene
2) Demerara Full Set (this is the complete scene subset)
3) Demerara Curtain Set (a set of curtains and curtain rod for use in any scene)
4) Dermerara Curtains (the curtains without the rod)
5) Demerara Sunset Camera (a camera with a "sun" object parented to it for sunlight)
6 - 9) Demerara Window Sections 1-3 (sections of wall each with a Demerara window and a set of 4 pivot windows)
The remainder of the assets in the main folder are subsets of subsets for use as you see fit.
II
dForce Presets folder
1) A default curtain dForce physics preset. Here is where you should save any of your own custom dForce presets for the curtains.
III
Iray Materials folder
This contains three scripts for selecting all like surfaces in the scene: walls, curtains and pivot window frames. It also contains the material presets which you apply after selecting the surfaces using the scripts (or singly, as you see fit).
IV
Pieces folder
This folder contains the native single assets which go into creating the subsets. Not really useful in creating a scene but it's there in case you feel the urge to get very creative.
V
Window Options folder
This folder contains options specific to the windows, to include the morph zero presets for all curtains and the lattice ON/OFF for the Demerara window jambs. It also contains the scripts for switching the end walls (East and West) between solid objects and screened objects. The full set loads with the screened walls visible by default.
Demerara was made with sunlight in mind. The window sashes are rigged and can be opened or closed using a slider in the Morphs section of the Parameters Tab when the window sash is selected (note, the window sash itself, not the "bone"). This is the usual location where you will find morphs for any Daz product.
Curtain and window morphs:
The curtains are also rigged in order to allow them to swing upward and this is accomplished using a slider in the morphs section exactly as with the window sashes. They are designed this way so that Daz doesn't "short" the mesh in its upward arc. The curtains can then fall naturally during a simulation. Other morphs exist in the same section for adjusting the curtain width, openness, etc. The names are self-explanatory.
Additonally, the narrow pivot windows can each be spun open up to 90 degrees left or right and of course are controlled individually as well.
Every wall surface is a separate object, in fact and can be shown/hidden/moved according to your needs for any particular render.
Demerara Sunset Camera:
This asset is a camera with a sphere object that is highly illuminated parented to it. It is created so that you may simply look through the camera lens in either viewport (main or auxiliary) and move the sun around simply by panning the camera or otherwise moving it around. It's easiest to just frame select on the part of the scene you want the sunlight to focus on and the tilt or pan or otherwise move the camera to achieve the lighting effect you desire. Trust this setup and trust yourself when you use it. It is highly intuitive so just trust your instincts.
That's it for this introduction to the Demerara Caribbean Style Sleeping Porch. Thanks for checking it out, and enjoy making renders with Demerara!
