Nice looking flintlock
Early 18th Century English Martial Musket for DAZ Studio 3D Model
Fnally offered for your consideration is an faithful recreation of an early 18th century English martial flintlock musket. Set up during the reign of Queen Anne, this firelock still carries traces of Flemish influence in its design that would eventually evolve into the Board of Ordnace Patterns later in the century. Perfect for historical depictions or Pirate Republic adventures, this handsome beast would love to be part of your rendering library.
As with its companion dragoon pistol, the lock is poseable using Twist in DAZ Parameters. The textures are likewise divided by material: brass, iron, iron stamps, flint leather, sling leather, wood light (rammer) and wood dark (stock). Though only 2K, they allow a serviceable prop at 57MB as opposed to a 4K requiring over 250MB with very little visual difference between them. As with the dragoon pistol, they still offer a lot of room for tweaking, as they are deliberately set light to allow darkening, toning, glossing, and a touch of bump. The lower musket in the second image displays the default texture settings; the top musket is a typical mixture of darkening and gloss using DAZ Studio Surfaces to achieve a desired look in seconds without added textures.
This musket responds well, however, to enhanced texturing for those so inclined as depicted by the top musket in the third image. Users are encouraged to explore both the DAZ only Surfaces adjustments and upgraded textures as suit their needs. The top musket in the third image compres the results achieved by substituting the stock woofon of enhanced wood and stone textures for the stock and flint with an 'out of the box' rendering on the lower using only DAZ sliders. The upper musket with Cathedral Walnut 59 from Rendernode, and a mineral texture from Dimension Theory available in DAZ. Renderhub too has a superb selection of textures; these were old favorites from back in the day. In short, the upper musket indeed has richer textures, but at a much higer cost in resouces. For all but portrait level closeup scenes, the bottom one should serve quite well for a cost effective, resource and labor friendly asset.
The last image shows the musket in use for scale; the loose sling is not an option in this version of the musket. If there is interest, I will offer it. Likewise with a 4K variant.
A special thanks to precogplasma; without his skill and patience, this product would not exit.
