Congrats to all the winners and participants... choices were good but truly do not envy the judges work as there were many good ones to choose from. As far as I am concerned all the honorable mentions are winners too!

Amazing stuff in this contest. Congratulations to everyone with a prize! Well deserved, and possibly a hard sorting for the judges involved.

You should have said Daz character competition.
Personally I am very confused by these competitions. The brief for the event is extremely vague and does not explain what is wanted.
It is not clear weather a character design should be modeled or just buy a daz product and pose it.
I have worked on many productions and know what a brief should look like. I designed 2 original characters and then sculpted a complete modular character.
Over 100 hours to make it paint it and then rig it. Not wishing to be disrespectful to any other artist but I do see many works that use other models. not original parts kit bashed together. These are very well done but are not very original. The rules asked for an original character.
Technical ability and modeling your own character does not give an advantage or even taken into account. So many model makers and artist leave this site confused after these event. I doubt I will ever bother again or even re open my store. I'm looking for a more suitable site that actually understands the industry.
Renderhub you are shedding artist fast.

Thu, Apr 17share the same opinion, unfortunately this is my last competition, it is very difficult to reconcile work with the creation of complete art for the contest. I thank everyone, it was very cool and challenging to participate

Fri, Apr 18I did not get into this contest, my understanding was this a ZBrush pros playground.
I knew there would be entries with a 50+ img posting on starting from "my ZBrush open IDE" to initial few pen strokes of rough idea - stayed away. SAVED COUNTLESS HOURS.
Seeing the winner, which looks good, I would have got in with my existing couple of dozen DAZ assets which won me the contest here a few years back.
Repeatedly users were pressing the forum admin about what exactly what NEW ORGINAL character meant.
What I understood from the responses were that a character from scratch would be given more weightage.
Also remember the many FAKE AI entries too, these pesky users along with the muted responses by the Renderhub forum admin is making these users keep pushing these entries each contest and shouting out loud that let Renderhub call it out.
Guess the users who spent hours making new characters feel wasted.
I also feel if the judges are briefed on what criteria it needs to score. If you show me a Daz character with all the bling's I would fall for it rather than a character which is built from scratch.
Anyway, AS ALWAYS, all these will not be addressed, and another contest will pop up with many more lining up with dreams of wining the good money.

Fri, Apr 18@bonj, I personally felt that you should have taken a prize for your entry, "Kaolin," because of the technical ability and originality that went into it. Forgive me if I misunderstood it, but I've never seen a robot be made with a mineral in mind. I'm not sure if the robot is MADE out of it, or if it was used as inspiration or whatever the context might've been, but I've never seen that before. I'm honestly irked on the fact you weren't recognized as an artist, like it's clear that you are among the most original and creative people in the community.
Oh well!! At least I have a unique model. Going to sell it at the higher end game ready as an unreal project.
@ gh0sttt I very much appreciate what you said. I thought It would at least get a mention.
Yes she is made from or rather with Kaolinite. A mineral often used for bone china and sculptures including statues.
Working with the cyberpunk history from William Gibson and PKD with a touch of sci-fi neo religion the idea of breathing life into clay is all very law
friendly to the genre. Perhaps a bit to deep to be putting meanings into my entry but I always do. It's all part of the design and deeper character.
I have never seen a china robot either and thought it was a deeper stage of geisha. I rolled back the geisha as it's been seen so much recently with ghost of
the shell. Great movie but I still prefer the animations.
The final render itself took 24hrs on my new pc. pushing it with all the reflections and a dozen genesis 2 and 3 characters in the background as well as
rendering a billboard for an even denser crowd. splashes and the shock wave of energy from her. There's so much involved in just that final image no post at all.
I re sculpted Kaolin 3 times polishing the dents tones and muscles to catch the light. Probably my best model yet!
Thank you for noticing

Sat, Apr 19Well it was a very good display of every criteria - originality, creativity, and technical ability, so no problem at all! I'll always notice genuine artists, at least when they aren't toying with me with joke entries and A.I. Also, on another unrelated note: if I were you, I wouldn't consider the words of olAna's comment to you just because of when they said, "Seeing the winner, which looks good, I would have got in with my existing couple of dozen DAZ assets which won me the contest here a few years back," which basically just implies that they're a hypocrite for seeming like they're on your side, but if they had known DAZ assets were allowed, they'd try and leverage their chances at winning, which doesn't show that they care about the concept of fairness or that the more experienced artists got snubbed, just that they missed out on winning the "easy" way, which doesn't/shouldn't help the disappointment that many artists including yourself feel, and it comes off as kinda rude. I don't know if I'm the only one who feels that way, but it definitely looks like it to me. I thought I might add this much.
well anywho, please update me if you do decide to seek other avenues, I did see that you were thinking of closing your RH store(?), but I still wanna see what you have in store for the future, as I do with many artists, both 3D and 2D.
cheers!

Sat, Apr 19I think I may have come across the wrong way, no offence at all to the artists who’ve clearly put in so much effort into their entries.
Had I known that 100% DAZ-only assets stood a real chance, I would’ve put in my entry to aim for a win myself.
At the end of the day, no matter how you look at it, everyone’s here to win, whether it’s with one entry or five, whether you’re a novice or a pro.
My greatest gripe with these contests remains the lack of proper scrutiny around AI-enhanced submissions.
Best of luck to everyone for the next one.

It would be nice if you sorted out the site compression before the next event. You destroyed my render on this one.
