R-32 Subway (CLOSED)
I need close ups of;
The bolster box (center cross member) that show the shape and connection to the frame member,
The wheel axle bearing box and
The braking system.
This is not the finished engineering. The spring assmby on this bogie box is incorrect.
I already have a store set up on renderhub, just haven't done anything with it yet.I think that perhaps this weekend I will spend some time uploading a couple of the starships and maybe a couple other things and then upload the trains when they're done as well.
I'll send you the obj's when they're done, you can put the textures together and we'll put cross-links to the sites.
I have some starships that need texturing. At least better than what I've been able to do. Would you be interested in doing textures for the ships?
This is about as far as I can get with authentic brake system with the pics I have.
Need more please as described in the last message I sent you.
It appears that the model you found was pretty close on the details but apparently he/she simply stopped at the point they reached rather than finishing it
When this model is complete, it will be listed for sale on my store in .obj format.
It will include the exterior and the interior cab with a stand alone bogie (truck) system that you can add to it if you need the wheels to show.
This project is being done in cooperation with Ion and if you check with him, he should have textures custom made for the model in both stock version and in modified graffiti versions.
This will need to be split up into 3 different models I think.
The truck is pushing 126k Vert and 62k Polies right now. It's about 60% done but if you add in the opposite side that doubles the stats and then if you add in the 2nd truck set in the rear, that quadruples it.
The complete exterior is pushing 1,268k polies and 2,426k verts. It's huge but I think it has a lot to do with the ka-zillion rivets on it. The rivets are low poly spheres.
The complete interior is pushing 163k polies and 331k verts
The exterior and interior combined are currently running
I figure the exterior can be sold as a stand alone. In a station render, you can't see the truck or the interior anyway.
The interior can also be sold as a stand alone with just the interior side of the exterior shell because again, you can't see the exterior in an interior shot.
The buyer can buy one or both depending on need and has the option of loading either or the other.
It will cut down on rendering load that way.
I gotta figure out a way to reduce the polies on the exterior without sacrificing detail.
What bothers me is this is the 36 model.
The 32 has all those congregated panels on it as well as all the stuff the 36 has.
Did a little more detail work to the bolster box ends.
I'm still not clear on how the bolster box connects to them much less how the queen plate sets but that's all under the train and can't really be seen anyway.
Also of note. With the new videos I've ascertained (and adjusted) that the bolster carrier end is actually a spring loaded, foot pedal system (what ever purpose it serves) and the support brace it's attached to appears to be made of wood and sits outside the face of the frame, connected to the journal boxes by the, 5 bolt braces.
I'm still struggling with the geometry of the brake system and now, the wheel height in comparison with the frame height.
It's getting interesting again.
