DAZ Studio - Transferring Rigging and Issue with Auto-Fit (CLOSED)
490I'm pretty good with the whole use of transfer utility to send your figure's rigging over to a prop. In other words making a prop into a figure that will conform to a G8 Female figure (for example) and saving it and all. No problems there. I can make working clothing. However, I've been trying to make a item that will accept auto-fit conforming clothing itself from a G3 (old clothing item). Now of course when I add this item to a G8 base, it asks for auto-fit figure (I select G3) and voila! it auto-fits and is fine. But when I try the same but conforming it to my constructed clothing figure, I get the same auto-fit popup but have no figure options listed. I know there's something I need to do to the created figure to fix this - (add or copy clones?) - and I'm pretty sure I figured this out once before but since have forgotten and lost my notes. Does anyone know of a tutorial or process for making a new figure (for G8) accept auto-fit (clone) items? I know (if I remember correctly) it has something to do with Scene ID, but I haven't been able to figure it out.
Thanks!

To create a garment first you import the obj file, and you make a Transfer Utility with G3 and the obj as parameters. Personally I click the Show Options button.
I check the Content Type box to select the type of clothing (shirt, skirt....).
I tested a garment I had made for G3M and the autofit worked with G9.

Wed, Nov 02, 2022Thanks for the input. I know how to get clothing to work - but I wanted the clothing I made to be able to have something auto-fit to it too. And that, I can't get to work. Other clothing doesn't auto-fit to my clothing. Hopefully that makes sense. A year or so though I followed a (since-lost) tutorial and made a clothing item that would work that way...so I know it can be done...just can't find that tutorial or remember it. If you happen to know or stumble on it, please link me. Take care and happy rendering!

Thu, Apr 06, 2023Just a more recent addendum on this - I finally found the scene ID data popup in DAZ Studio - it's under the FIGURE menu section. You have to tell DS what your figure is and with which character it is intended to fit then same the figure out as an asset. After that the garment will be remembered. I'll get around to making a tutorial on this at some point.

Fri, Apr 07, 2023It's indeed a good idea to make a tutorial (with a reminder of the link in this thread) because I think I'm not the only one ignoring this function
