LOL - OMG... Well, it's clear why Santa keeps doing what he does year after year.
Nice job. Thanks for participating in the contest, and for providing your wireframe image.

Mon, Dec 05, 2022Actually, it's not your fault at all.
We introduced the new gallery view feature - which is really cool.
And then we also now required the wireframe for proof that it's not AI generated.
Those two things did not work so well *together* - LOL.
We're trying to come up with a solution to make this better in the future.
For now, this will have to do.

Mon, Dec 05, 2022I did include a wireframe... I didn't know about the square thumbnail. Did you need a different view? ...like a clay render? There is very little post work... some smoothing of the beard, some hair cleanup and the pipe smoke . I did have a 3D pipe smoke element in place, but didn't care for it.

Tue, Dec 06, 2022Oh, no... You did everything right. You're not supposed to have to do anything different than you did.
The coders built a new "gallery view" system so people can easily see all of the entries.
https://www.renderhub.com/3d-contests/winter-fantasy-render-contest-gallery
The system automatically creates the gallery view thumbnail from the last image posted.
At the same time as the gallery view was implemented, our contests now require the wireframe image (which you did correctly).
We just didn't anticipate that the system was now going to be creating the gallery view thumbnail from the wireframe images, if people posted those as the "last image".
That's why I posted the "for the gallery view thumbnail" image above. So the system could grab that one.
Sorry for the confusion.

Fri, Dec 30, 2022I'm not certain. I'm pretty certain that I've been on the naughty list my entire list and have had no such fate. I guess I'll need to sep things up.
Thanks! Kind of you to say.

I love the pinup look of this one. I can see from the wireframe that you did this in DAZ Studio. It appears as though you have everything in place in the original render, so I would guess there is little to no postwar? Do you mind sharing which figures you used? I think I recognize Leony.

Thank you. I'm glad you like it. It was fun to make.
You are correct. The woman in the Vixen hat is Leony right out of the box. Santa is wise wizard from DAZ. I dialed in Dwarven in head and George in the parameters tab. Dwarf was like 50% over all and 100% on the head. George was 60% with 15% on the head
The Elf lady on the left with the mistletoe is MSO Nisse with 50% Lan dialed in on the head. Both are from DAZ.
Finally, the charming lady creating a stir to the far right is a generation 3 hybrid. 100% Georgia ( Out of touch ) and 100% Victoria 7
Hair on Santa was from the underbelly figure. the beard(s) were Torien and Dark Guard. I think i played with a bunch. In looking at the file, it appears that both were on for the image.
So all of the figures were from DAZ for this image. The clothing and props were from various places. honestly, I can't recall from where everything came. In addition to DAZ3D, I use Renderosity, RenderHub, TurboSquid. Wherever I can scrounge up what I need. Sometimes, dare I say, I actually make something. But, let's face it - If I can find it, my lazy behind will opt for that.
To your postwork point, I tried to do most of it in the app, as it is for a 3D Render contest. But not to the point of insanity. For instance, the pipe smoke. I have a few 3D assets for that ( e. g. Candle smoke from the Red Crow Inn). Or you could make smoke with an alpha/Transparency map and a plane, but I wasn't liking how it was lookin, so i did it in post. The hair on Vixen was poking through the hat. You could probably fuss with it for hours and get it to work, as it wasn't too horribly out of sorts from the start. But I'm not getting any younger, so it made little sense. There may have been poke-through here or there. I don't recall. And of course some color tweaking. I sometimes bump out a render of individual components without a background ( Draw Dome set to "Off") and no lights to make selection easier with sort of an alpha selection approach. All compositing was photoshop.
So that was long-winded. ;-D
