In retreat (CLOSED)

Whew, made it! I was working on a render last night, and then the forum posting got disabled so I figured time was up, gave up and went to sleep. And I slept a long while.
Then later I logged in and saw that the contest had been extended, but only with a few hours left. Eek! I made some adjustments and committed to a new render, these slow path tracers be damned.
I had made a previous entry, which I think could be improved a bit, but after posting that a new idea for a composition sprung in my mind. A triangle in an egg kind of thing, with the egg being inspired by the Zeitz museum in Cape Town. I knew I had to make this before closing the book on this project and I figured I could do it fast. Similar in aesthetic to my first one.
Repurposing some assets like the knots, eyes and skeleton from the last render, but made a new character with new hair modeled in spot. The environment was booleaned and bashed together in haste, resulting in garbage geometry but I had to make do with that. Finally I cropped the composition to focus more on the character since she became so small in there, so maybe the 'egg' part isn't so clear anymore, maybe I'll give it a go again some time. Giving more space to the environment also requires me spending more time making it look nice, a corner I cut for this one.
Here are some images documenting the work:

Software used: Blender, Zbrush, Embergen, Substance Painter.
