How To Install Textures For This Free DAZ Model (CLOSED)
102I've been trying to install the textures for this free "PMW" M3 model: https://www.renderhub.com/ohnomen/pmw-m3-gtr-nfs-mw-razor-prop
The model comes up white, and DAZ shows an error- "cannot find the textures". I've tried to install the textures in the Runtime/textures folder, but this isn't working. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is a really nice model; the artist did really nice work with it.

You first have to locate the file folder where you have the accompanying textures under Runtime. Then go the folder open it up to the location inside and copy the entire file path. Load the model and when the error comes up and asks you to locate or skip, you hit "locate" and then paste the file path accordingly. It should open the model with the textures attached then.

Sat, May 13, 2023@tien_jian_fei18 - Thanks for helping out a fellow member of the community!

Truthfully, once you have the textures installed, you are better off only keeping the ones that are basically decals and opting for Iray shaders to make it really pop, JMHO...

Thank you so much for your help! That's exactly the info I needed to get it to work. This is the first time I've encountered this, and now I know how to deal with it should it arise again.
Your render looks magnificent! You're right, the bright metal really pops! I'll have to try that.

@3DSaga - I'm happy to see that @tien_jian_fei18 helped you get this sorted out.
However, in the future, here's what you *should* do...
If a free product is broken, you should write a product review and/or contact the vendor so they can fix it.
Free items do not belong on the website if they are broken, and users should not have to use workarounds to fix the product themselves.
If a paid product is broken, you should contact the vendor immediately so they can fix the problem.
If the vendor does not respond or does not fix the problem, you should contact Support.
Support will remove the product from the marketplace and send it back to the vendor for an update.
In summary, if a product (free or paid) has errors, it is considered to be broken.
Broken products do not belong on the website, and users should not have to go through the hassle like you did.

It is true that having texture problems when opening a product is very unpleasant. These are things that happen and warning the seller is the reflex to have.
But should Daz Studio users be left in the dark about how certain basic functions work?
I am thinking, for example, of solving simple problems such as finding the path of texture files or dsf files.
It may be my past as a teacher talking!

Sun, May 14, 2023As a former teacher for several years myself... I get it.
I should have included in my original post that I did contact the seller. As he was not able to duplicate my problem- everything worked fine on his end- he did recommend I try reinstalling the files. This of course didn't solve the problem. It was only after reading feedback that another user had issues with the texture files that I decided to ask for help here.
I certainly don't want to discourage this artist from sharing their work, but hopefully they'll use a more standard process if they share their work.
