Doing a follow up with how I created this. Here are some in-engine shots how I setup the animation to create the render for reach scene. I already use Unity every day for work, but I learned how to use the Timeline tool for this, and I must say this tool is really great for creating animation, even for someone like me who isn't an animator.
I love the low-fi high tech look. Like the vision of the future, but from the viewpoint of the 80's low-fi era. So running with that idea I modeled both of brothers of Chevelle Pete and Sam to match this look. The hardest part was making them look distinct enough to tell apart in this digital noise while both wearing suits.
If you have questions, please feel free to ask. I've had lots of fun working on this. And I'm looking forward to getting it done someday!
Animations that are done, just not added into the final edit yet. Or won't get used because I found a cool camera angle.

Im curious about something on reddit i came across (well on reddit the comments are deleted recently)
'Update #3 fan animation Mars Simula ... We won't get it done before the concert on Saturday, but we've made good progress in just a few days!'

Just a heads up if this is the case : Entry is limited to individual artists so team entries are not eligible.

My son wanted to learn how to do animation, this seemed like a great way to show him as I learned also. Once I got a system down, I started showing him how to animate inside of unity at the same time I was working on the project. During the creative process he was helpful and gave a few cool ideas.
He's poked around in the project learning how to use the animation tools, but hasn't created anything that is in final. Since this is taking longer than I hoped, maybe after this contest he creates something for the final. Here is a link to a few things I've saved of his progress in learning how to use Unity. He tried to get the some characters to move around in the scene and was having a heck of time. So I imported a transformer model, and he loved that! http://3dautosports.com/renderhub/

But he's definitely a teenager, he'll have short bursts of interests followed by distraction. Meanwhile, my old school DEV brain is going into death march mode! LOL!

I totally missed this, I was talking to my friend this morning about this and they said if I heard anything from the band? I giggled and said like what, a cease and desist letter? They said no, the local radio station shared the animation with the band. I sent Brain (Radio station host) the same animation I posted on reddit for feedback, but I didn't know he actually showed it to them! Super cool!
