Having trouble installing "Wrinkled Soles for Genesis 3 & 8" (CLOSED)
146Hello, new-ish DS user here. Learned the basics over the last several weeks or so and have just upgraded to an RTX 3060 12GB to start on my first project.
However, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to install third party assets into DS. The ones I bought from the official DAZ store show up just fine using the installer app, but the ones I just purchased here from RenderHub, I CANNOT get them to show up.
I purchased the "Wrinkled Soles for Genesis 3 and 8", and am considering purchasing the other add-ons that go along with it (along with some other items from RenderHub), but the files don't show up in DS no matter where I put them.
I followed this thread here where the (I believe) creator of the asset replied, and copied the files over as he explained, but they still don't show up. I even followed some YT tutorials but I run into the same problem, which is an interesting one. The folder they say the assets should be in, I don't even have in my DS library!
As you can see, I have the assets in this folder, and if you look in my DS window, there is no "People" folder by itself, just in the "Figures" folder, and even there, there's nothing for "Genesis 8 Female". I've use the search bar for "Wrinkled" and "feet", etc., and they don't seem to have been installed anywhere.
Here, I tried installing the files in the "My DAZ 3D Library" on my C drive. Doesn't work.

Now I also have a folder in my E drive for DS which is where I thought I was sending my content to, so I copied all of the files there too, there just in case (data, people folders, etc.), too, but the assets STILL don't show up. I tried selecting each of these folder under edit, preferences, content, etc. But still no luck. (I told DS to install to my E drive manually because I don't have much space on my C drive, but apparently it makes a folder there for my assets anyway).
I've hit "refresh", I've restarted DS, still no luck.

Any thoughts? Want to start buying A LOT more assets here, but can't get them to show up. Thanks in advance!

Maybe this thought/idea is stupid as hell, but ... have you tried to search your "Content Library" instead of "Smart Content"? Manually copied projects don't show up in the "Smart Content".

Thu, Jan 25, 2024Hi Pushee-Ri,
That appears to have been the problem! I wasn't even aware there was another content folder since it wasn't a tab by default. I added it from the file>window bar and now they're showing up in the non-smart content library. Apparently I've only been using smart content since I've been playing around with DS. Thank you!
Now I appear to having issues applying it. I'm testing it out on the "Sina" character which uses the Genesis 8 female mesh from the smart objects library. (Most of the characters I've already purchased appear to be from the "smart content" library. I clicked on her in the object list as she's already in the scene and then clicked on the wrinkles from the content library to apply it but it doesn't seem to apply to her. I can't find the sliders for wrinkles under the parameters. Am I doing something else wrong? I hope they can be attached to "smart content" characters :/
I added a standard genesis 8 female character from the "non-smart content library" and tried applying them to her, but it still doesn't appear to be applying. There are no new options under the parameters after double clicking to apply it. A prompt does display saying, "loaded file: wrinkled feet 3.duf".
Thanks again. Making progress at least!

I did a bit more digging and I was able to get another one of my purchases to work and apply to the smart character. It's a "dirty feet" texture.
I noticed that that zip file contained a data folder, however, the "Wrinkled Feet" zip file does not contain any data folder. Could this be the problem?

Thu, Jan 25, 2024No. Depending on the product, a data folder might not be required.
That particular product contains textures and presets, so no data folder is needed.

If you're new to using third party content, this video should help:

Don't worry. Once you get set up correctly, installing and using third party content is a breeze.
