The puddles on the ground seems to be turned upside down buildings, masked as one layer to give the impression of puddle reflections and placed among the stones on the pavement in a 2-dimensional form, not blending among the stones. These seemed to stand out as it seemed just too perfect, giving a sense of a photo-real impression.
In the end it wouldn't make any difference on your part, as editing is acceptable and it would be only questionable as to what percentage does the 3d software does its work or how much heavy stuff is significantly left to the editing process.
I may be completely wrong about this, as this raised some thoughts in me. Hope you understand.
I think these pictures were your starting point:

Wed, Jun 05, 2024Hello drjivago,
Actually I would like to correct you about this, the puddles are made with nodes in blender (basically a procedural texture) and have very low roughness due to which the buildings are being reflected in it, just like a real puddle would do. To use upside down buildings as reflections would make things unnecessarily complicated and eventually cannot turn out as realistic as the other way.
And what I did in editing was just color correction and some fixing and tbh it cannot be compared to how much time I spent in making this scene in the 3D software. (I ruined the lighting 2 times Imao)
I hope I am not sounding rude but I just wanted to correct you about this pal.

Procedural textures idea might've crossed my mind but after seeing those stock photos of similar people walking on a rainy day, made me think twice. There's nothing wrong with taking reference from other photos and ideas especially when done in a good way like yours. But since there was nothing more than a pair of feet and a lid of a manhole cover and a small texture (pavement) preview on the material preview window in your blender screenshot, I couldn't have guessed the idea of nodes because there were no screenshots and you didn't mention them. Since you clarified this, I think you did the right thing, as there is always the risk of being wrong, if a little or no information is provided. Saying things straight to the point may become harsh and I'didn't mean to say your work was bad or the post editing. Hope this is understandable now, as you made the whole process
clear.
(I couldn't have made a guess with just a material preview window, like in the example, sorry about that):

Wed, Jun 05, 2024It's okay, you don't need to prove or show anything : - ) it was my understanding. Knowing your process, should be an answer for your future projects in the future as well. I hope the best for your good achievements, a little misunderstanding on my side that's all : - )
