Bio Punk Guard is a hybrid human machine.
They are designed to be **** ugly and scary as hell.
They require a constant supply of 32amp 3 phase power and full bodily liquid transfusion or they overheat due to the high power consumption.
Heavily armored and packing a powerful pulse rifle these guys are a tough adversary for any Bio Punk adventurer.


Day one,

This looks fierce. You're going with two legs on this one I suppose, as seen from the side view sketches. This would look cool as you add some claw-like hands too, perhaps equipped with weapons. Best wishes!...

Tue, Aug 13, 2024I added whiskers but according to my expert teenager they are naff.. The eyebrows look naff but I like the whiskers..

Over the weekend I managed to get some time to sculpt the body and legs. The new chest design cuts out the inner pipes, wires and internal organs. I want to rig and pose the character so the idea of weight mapping all the internals made me change the design. Still to come the arms and hands. Then join it altogether for a little decimation for the paint, and re topology.
The mesh is still very dense until I boolean the arms and hands in place.

Do you think the wiring on the back will be harder? Looks like you have finished the legs and going for the details. Looks good already. : )
You have sculpted this from the beginning, you could've gone for a base mesh as with a game model. Good effort and time seems to be put in your work.

Wed, Sep 04, 2024The wiring on the back will be attached as clothing, weight mapped as solid to stop it distorting. Then a layer of props as accessories. I do enjoy the sculpting, I used to practice with a daily sculpt self challenge, I should do more of it.
Rather than using a base mesh I find it easier to block out a rough shape and start from that. Thanks for your feedback

Fri, Sep 13, 2024Thanks boet, 3dc Is nice and clean. I tried again tonight on the original HD sculpt for a better paint but some how screwed it up. I normally give up on characters about now XD but I will persist.

did you sculpt the Bio Punk Guard with voxel or surface ? how much polygons was the head before the decimation ?

Sat, Sep 14, 2024Surface sculpted and then voxel , 3dc workflow is voxel then retopo (that's the way I work anyway. Just over 4 mill poly's dropping down to 125k in this attempt. Ideally I will drop it to between 30 and 90k.
I think g9 is around 30 to 90k with subd. I may be wrong, characters are not my field

This is progressing well, 125k is a bit high by gaming standards, but for the contest almost all the figures are way above, so I would be more concerned about it being seen with quality than the number of polygons
I don't know 3dc, but the subdivisions have GPU optimization almost in all softwares, squeeze it out.
