As the title says, DO NOT INSTALL DAZ 4.23. If you are a character creator you will need to use Save As - Morph Assets under Support Assets. But, if you install DAZ 4.23 that particular tab is DEPRECTAED. Meaning it is blanked out and you cannot use it !!!!!
I made the mistake of of installing 4.23 and found this out. So I've uninstalled 4.23 and reinstalled 4.22 as I'm NOT happy about having to pay nearly $19 per month for DAZ Premiere !!!

I see no point in updating from the 4.22 version. If they do software optimization for less powerful pc, then maybe.

Wed, Nov 20, 2024I refuse to move off of Genesis 8 for the immediate future. Genesis 8 was around longer than normal and as a result I have tons of stuff for it. DAZ has for the most part moved to G9. So I am no longer spending my money there unless it is some generic thing not genesis related or a sale on the previous genesis's that I don't already own. That leaves more money to be spend here on G8 stuff.
Oh, and charging a membership fee to be able to buy certain things is a poorly thought out plan because they are killing their own sales.

How to express our dissatisfaction to Daz about the removal of certain possibilities. I have 2 examples:
1) The latest discovery with 4.23: deactivation of the menu
Save As - Support Assets - Morph Assets
2) This one is older: It was possible to have several instances of Daz Studio simultaneously until version 4.12
Which is very practical for making comparisons or copying settings.

Daz is going the way of all software companies which is to say, remove certain functionalities and then offer them on a subscription basis calling them 'enhancements' or 'modules' or what have you. Adobe has gotten downright immoral about this. The subscription model is the future because it's in the cloud, "which is above us" as our esteemed Vice Moron has said in public.

You just have to use the new "Modifier Asset(s)..." selection instead of "Morph Asset(s)".

The 4.23 messed up my whole work last week, I'm stuck: UI unresponsive, clicking scene tab element doesn't trigger the parameter to populate. clicking on camera doesn't trigger the viewport to switch to camera... no disk access, no cpu nore gpu access, just dead...

It's possible to install 4.22, but you need to start by “cleanlyuninstalling 4.23 using the Windows procedure.
To install 4.22, I advise you to download the zip file and install it manually (I'm not sure whether WIM allows you to install an earlier version, I always use the manual procedure, so I'm not making any statement

I wonder if this might be related to the latest G9 weirdness I am experiencing.
I've recently (finally) found out how to get really good eye reflections in G9 figures.
But now I'm having a strange glitch - or something - with some of the hair items
I bought off the Daz store.
I load them on the character, it says they are loaded in the Scene Pane, but they
are not visible. I know one IS visible, but only after the image starts to render.
One is a ponytail, and only the scrunchy is visible. A couple of them only load
kind of a brown skull cap on the figure's head, which looks kinda like a yarmulka
I guess.
But I also have two of them I downloaded last night which are just fine.

I had a problem after installing 4.23 using DIM, as every time I loaded any figure or prop Studio would complain of missing textures. I found that the installer had moved the "Runtime/textures" folder and renamed it, and to get everything working again all I had to do was rename it back to its previous name. WTH?
On top of that it crashes just as often as previous versions so I am still avoiding it as much as possible. My only use for DAZ Studio is still to set up content for export to Blender, where I can get better quality renders in a fraction of the time. I still haven't reinstalled Genesis 9 either.

I installed 4.23 and reverted to the old version. It doesn't behave well on my system for now.

I installed vers 23 and have no real issues so far, I'm glad the morph assets issue was proven otherwise, as I'm big on character creation… But not big enough to blow my money on Daz's rentware…

after install and uninstall of 4.23 i have problems with the rotten DAZPostgres. It stopps the base genesis 8 female from loading
with the message: file not found.
Did DAZPostgresql change my Daz-content ?
If I kik it out, the file load normal. I dunno how Daz save the filelocation, in the setup all loocks ok

Sun, Nov 24, 2024Which is why so-called "smart content" is such a bad idea in the first place. The fault isn't in PostGreSQL itself. It's the very idea of automating the building of a database to supposedly make the organization and searching of your content "easier". I gave it a go when it was first integrated and had problems pretty much immediately. It may take longer but I do my own manual sorting, and have done so for over a decade. The content tree loads instantly and I know where everything is. Nothing outside of a drive failure is going to break that content tree and content manager. It's literally a mini "file manager" built into Studio. It even works on a Linux machine.
What I blame about version 4.23 is about the rendering, in previous versions it was possible to cancel during rendering and continue it with the resume button, which does not exist anymore in 4.23. This is not my concept of progress...

Wed, Nov 27, 2024You need to set the texture compression higher it has been moved to optimization in the render tab. The default values are 512 x 1024 which is terrible. I set mine to 4096 x 4096 which solved the texture artifacts.

Me, I'm sticking with v4.22, cause I'm a no-rentware kinda guy. I kept v4.15 too, as it has better voice-to-speech function than they use these days.
DAZ still has the best Iray UI around. I do love those shadows and that chrome. Too bad iClone can't offer a usable Iray UI. And talking animals.

I sadly did this, and have no local copy of daz 4.22. Any suggestions? And can we export to fbx in Daz 4.23 if you get premier?

The only solution I found was to open a ticket with Daz3D support requesting a copy of version 2.22, and they gave it to me.

I run 4.23 Premier without problems, save as Modifier Asset(s) works for me to save Morphs.... You do not need Premier to save Morphs but it have nice Tools.

I just noticed when trying to save out a custom character, that the new version does indeed screw things up. It saves out every morph used to create the character as a duplicate file in the product folder. Whereas before it only saved the custom morph. So now there is more clutter, duplicate errors, and uncesseary annoyance. The forums are no help of course, since they'll ban you for so much as sneezing the wrong way.

Sun, Jun 01Yes but with the Alpha you lose ALL of your plugins forcing you to jump between two versions and hope the 5090 scene does not have some plugin dependency to render correctly in the Alpha.
if someone could provide a way for me to get a manual install file of Daz studio 4.22 I will personally show u how to make hd morphs with the dhdm addon with blender
