Finally - A Sub-Free Alternative to Substance Painter

Hey peeps, what with all the discussion about the pure evil that is software subscription, it gaves me GREAT pleasure to let you know that there is now a viable alternative to Substance Painter. There's been a few options out there for a while now but not exactly viable ones in my opinion - until now.
Behold the brand new version of Marmoset Toolbag. Version 5 finally allows you to paint across both UDIM and Texture Seams which should make it ideal for working with DAZ figures etc. It's not cheap, but at least you have the option to buy a perpetual license. The product often goes on sale with 20% off, so I'm buying a license next time it does., and that means that I can FINALLY have a bash at creating some content!
Check it out, it's absolutely stunning, it even has those fancy new vector tools that Substance Painter users were getting excited about recently because it's ideal for stitches and stuff like that.
For your pleasure, here are the first five videos uploaded about the new release,. but you should also visit their channel and check-out all the previous stuff too because it's also a fantastic real-time surfacer and renderer.

And hey, I hope DAZ are reading this because guess what?

THAT is how you offer a subscription service WITHOUT being discriminatory (note the option to buy a perpetual license for those who require one?). And as for those poor Substance Painter users currently subscribed to that parasitic bank-balance reduction service known as Adobe? Well, you now have the option to buy a bottle of Marmoset and permanently wave those parasitic corporates goodbye!
Don't forget to spray liberally now, will ya?
In all seriousness I sincerely hope this helps someone,

You're welcome! I've been keeping my eyes on it for a few versions now, so it's really great to finally see painting across UDIM and Texture Seams!
So I'm already sold on it, it's a perpetual license, the works. And you buy directly from the company so there's no 'STEAM' to worry about either. I'll have to wait for the sale though, because that's a serious amount of cash for me personally and 20% off is quite significant. It's a perpetual license though, so definitely worth it!
I'm proud to say I've never supported software subscription in my life and never will. The comments for those YouTube videos are super-enthusiastic so I think it's fair to say they're doing it right. Hopefully this release will liberate thousands of 3D artists and set them free of Adobe and their practices.

From the excitement shown in the comments of those videos, I'd say it already IS better than Substance Painter!
Don't fight the good companies out there, be grateful for them and support them!

I'm having a bit of a problem.
I installed the free trial version, but when I first ran it, it mentioned something about changing a setting to enhance the performance and that I needed to restart my PC in order for it to take effect. So I did, and while the program runs, the performance even with just the Albedo channel occupied by Genesis 8 maps is like wading through treacle, and it keeps crashing.
It's an 8GB card so it can't be lack of RAM. I'm convinced it has something to do with that setting it adjusted the first time I ran it but I can't remember what it was called so don't know how (or what) to switch back. I wish I'd taken notice of what it was called and I dare not uninstall it in case it ends my trial period. If anyone hasn't done so yet but plans to install the free trial version, please take a snapshot of the performance message that pops-up and post here so that I know what it did. I know I could contact Marmoset but it's the Christmas period and I was really looking forward to digging my claws into it over Christmas!
