I began making this house in Blender many years ago. I may never finish it, but I fantasize releasing it as a freebie some day.
In this post-thread I want to share my history of progress on it.
I begin by showing you a picture of several of them with a stream running through their back yards.

Near as I can make out, I began making the house in 2021. My concept for it was that it would be like a smallish town house, like this:

Wed, Jan 22The name, "Jiqpaad", is a word I spontaneously made up to be the name of the house. It has no meaning other than to be the name of this house.
I come up with spontaneous random words to name many of my creations. I like that.

Wed, Jan 22Before I gave it the name "Jiqpaad", I had been calling it the "Curved Wall House".
My first idea for joining two townhouse-sized units together was this curved hallway link that linked them together on all three levels:

Anyway, here's one of my first renders inside one of what I then regarded as the main bedrooms upstairs:

Directly below where the camera is in the bedroom picture just shown above, is the kitchen. The kitchen remains the toughest part of this house to design. I still can't figure it all out.
But here's the thing: I want the Jiqpaad House to be maximally accessible to characters in wheelchairs. So I thought of some accessibility ideas for the kitchen. They are:
1. Counter-top with no cabinets beneath, so one can sit at the counter in one's chair.
2. Counter-top with handles along the edge so wheelchair folk can propel themselves along by grabbing and pulling themselves along.
3. An oven that protrudes out so that once again, one can sit with the oven basically in one's lap. And...
4. An oven that opened up on all 3 sides for maximum accessibility ease. I modified someone else's CCO oven model toward this end.
5. Likewise, a refrigerator that was basically in one's lap, and laid out horizontally. I designed it such that is closes up and retracts under a big window sill where one could put something like a sculpture.
6. Storage cabinets that could at least position themselves close to being in one's lap. Where to put them? I put them above the windows, but on rails so they can descend to the counter-top. Once descended, they open up and maximize access by means of lazy suzan turntables. I call them "puck cabinets" 'cause they're puck-shaped.
But I still can't figure out where to put things like a dishwasher, a garbage receptacle, and a range-top.

Adjacent the kitchen we have the dining area. And I have begun experimenting with gray interior walls instead of green.

Thank you very much for this insight
I'll keep both fingers (and whatever else you can cross) crossed for your project.

Remember the curved hallway link idea from a few pictures above? Well, here's what that looked like at the basement level:

But instead of that idea of two houses, and basements, linked by a hallway, I now have a very large continuous basement. I put a swimming pool in it:

I mentioned already that I could not figure out the trash disposal scheme for the kitchen. To that end, I was contemplating a garbage chute through the kitchen floor - down to the basement, where an open trashcan collected what came down. And here's a render I made as I so contemplated:

I feel like this house is big enough to have an interior elevator

Wed, Jan 22Lolz. I feel that way as well. And so it does indeed have an interior elevator. It has two of such elevators.
Back to the pool. I made a pool shower control gizmo. Here's Cavinia playin' with it:

Cammie says unto Cavinia: "Quit playin' with this water and wasting it. You haven't even been in the pool yet."
Ok, so maybe I made the control gizmo bezels a bit overkill big. But maybe that's part of their "charm". Ya. That's it. Charm.
Shower is by SycleYied and floor water is by SpaceBones. Ya. When I think of water props, I think of SycleYield and SpaceBones.
Now here's two pictures of these folks in the pool, wherein Cavinia demonstrates the fact that the pool has wheelchair ramps in it.
The first version of the picture shows the distinct edges of the water ripple prop I made. In the second version, I added an edge-fade opacity image map to hide those distinct edges.

Ya. I think that edge-fading worked.
Cavinia seems entertained by the distorted muntin shadows cast on the pool bottom from the sun blaring through the windows over the pool in that distant corner. Them windows are not visible in this shot. But trust me, they are there.

Sat, Jan 25Me too. I wonder whether there exist amphibious wheelchairs in real life, for going into pools and taking lots of showers and stuff. I can only suspect that they exist. Perhaps I will search the internet for confirmation of this.
Here's a shot focusing on the front porch, with the strange "flying buttresses" I made.

Imagine now taking the elevator up half a floor. Here's a shot of what you could see up there. The couch you see here is just on the other side of the wall from the spikey clock in the previous picture.

Now I want to tell the story of why I made this nifty den.

See? Is it not nifty? Here's another angle:

Ok. The story begins with my annoyance over a wall segment that well, just bothered me. The wall segment divided up a space in a stupid way, wherein it failed to fully divide the space, psychologically creating a useless invitation to walk in circles around it, as per the pink arrow. I'm like: "Look, wall, either finish the job of dividing that space, or maybe just leave."

But if the wall left, then I'd have other problems I didn't want to face. So. my solution was to make the wall finish dividing up the space.
So let's fill that gap on the right.

Ya. Cool. Fill the gap in terms of walkway traffic, but leave some gap up in the top area to keep it interesting.
Now let's make the top gap even more interesting and explicable by putting a tube through it.

Cool. Now let's put in a "pseudo-ceiling" to make even more interesting and cozy.

Cool. Now add a custom desk.

Right on. Now make an option to block off the space at the hallway instead.

Ok. Maybe that's too much continuity across that corner where the railings meet. So maybe move that wall a foot to the right to make it seem more separate.

Well, all these are options someone might prefer over the others. So I'll keep them all. If I ever release this house model, all these options will be available.

When I made the central column to hold up the tube that goes through the interesting gap, I made a version of it that has branches. I like it. Ya can put a bird on that there branch.

Wed, Jan 29I suppose there's courage in it. But when I consider that this project is still likely way too much for me, and that I'll never finish and release it, I think of it more as ignorance and foolishness.

Wed, Jan 29I am sure that by doing this project you have learned a lot of things, which will be useful to you in other projects of a more reasonable size.
In short, even if this project is never finished, it is not wasted time

So, what's this? A floor pit? Ya. It goes down about 80cm, I think.
What the hell. Fill it with pillows or something. Kids will likely love it.

The corresponding low ceiling above the floor pit is the lower portion of the strange little alcove in this next picture. Adults will probably love it.

And the floor pit itself creates it's own protrusion into the basement ceiling, as shown here:

I dig the floor pit.

2 weeks ago I worked on some optional ornamentation for the house.
You may have by now noticed the colorful placards on walls in many of the pictures shown so far. I got more serious about those placards, making them official, yet optional, parts of the house that would be included in any download of the house I might offer.
This also meant working out the lighting that would illuminate the placards at night as well as in daylight. To this end, I added some outdoor lighting to make it all look decent at night.
So here's some shots of the front placards; one above the garage door, and two over the front door, in daylight:

With a bit of experimentation, I worked out that the placard over the garage door looks best when illuminated by simple tubular lamp posts, of which you can mostly the the one on the right in these shots.
The placards over the door needed an extra light near the door that is rather hidden in this view.
So here's what that all looks like at night:

The placards over the front door are double-sided, such that their opposite sides protrude inside the house.
So here's some shots showing that:

For the back of the house, I also added a porch light on a beam over the back walk-path. Kinda cool. Then I went bold as fuck. Dig this: a placard that juts out like 4 meters or so and glows:

Pretty weird. I like it. I think I'll also include the glowing dodecahedron in the foyer.
If YOU want to use these placards and the dodecahedron in YOUR renders, you certainly can for free.
