In Mesopotamia myth blends with reality. Thousands of years of paganism lurk in from the cracks of daily life even after the dominance of three Abrahamic religions in the region. People unknowingly honor the old gods. Some knock on the wood for better luck which olden days was used for dispursing evil spirits from wooden objects in the house. Some have blue jewels on them or on the walls of their houses to divert the evil eye to a jewel, or amulet.

Meet Iphrit a mischievous she-devil. People still honor her, in Turkish to be "ifrit" which means being annoyed by someone. Still commonly used by even religious Muslims without knowing it refers to an old god whose expertise is annoying people.
