Chestnut Horse
3D Render by Luna_s20My new "old" model. Geometry, textures and animation are by me. The model is several years old now. I keep dropping it and coming back to it. This time I decided to myself that it's time to finish the project I started.
Chestnut is the first, base and as of now, the only texture that was created for this model. The tail is still missing for full happiness. The model is still going back to Blender and from it to DAZStudio. Constantly something I don't like, I change something.
Why another model at all, when the 3d world offers so many ready-made horse models? Some of them are very good. It is comfortable to work in such models as HWH or DH2. But what I wouldn't do, they don't want to look like the horses I had.
I don't know yet what the fate of this model will be. I combined in it everything that I love in other models. From DH2 I borrowed the idea of separating the head into a separate texture. This makes it harder to create textures, but allows for more accuracy. From MilHorse I borrowed the idea of a triple layer mane, although its geometry is completely different from the already published models. HWH had it done very accurately, each strand was separate, but animating that mane was a task beyond my strength. Therefore, this mane has three layers, but each layer has strands that work well with DForce. I gave up rigging the mane in favor of ready-made morphs.
For convenience, I separated the front and side of the mane into separate models. This makes it easier to morph and simulate. Also, when sourcing clothes, harnesses or any other accessories, you can decide if any part of the mane gets in the way.And while we're on the subject of hair, the horse has hair on its muzzle. Also, the eyelashes are geometric rather than textured.
The hair in the ears also shared the fate of the mane. I had originally planned to give them to the geometry base for convenience, but I thought that with shoes, wraps, ear muffs and other items it would hinder the animation. So these are the next two elements that will be created once the horse has gained a tail.
The environment texture was taken from hdrihaven com.

Wed, Apr 26, 2023Thanks! That's the best compliment for me. I'm still working with this model.
This is fantastic! How much love you've put in it is easy to see.
Missing a horse is breaking the heart
My 2 beauties, I had to sell them, they left my farm in May this year
