3D Render by Beautiful MisfitsToday I got a mail, that made me angry and sad at the same time. Sadly enough there is a distance over 800 km and 3 borders to cross, so I can't just jump into the car and visit.

Ill say it with Robin Williams:
I used to think that the worst thing in life was to end up alone. It's not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel alone.
And that's exactly what happened to the person, who wrote to me, btw. my mother.
Picked up yesterday for a Easter breakfast, 1 hour driving to the meeting place, where all others came to.
Not one word spoken with her, not on the way to the restaurant and not on the way back.
And there, she was sitting, between all others, feeling more alone than ever before.
Well, my sons and I are now preparing everything to get her to our place, some planing to do, but no problem at all.

Tue, Apr 02, 2024I agree. The company of people who make you feel alone sucks even more. It is one reason I have often preferred to stay home instead of go out to group events with people I happen to "know". Well, I hope yr mom can get together with less alienating people in the future.
My grandmother was in a nursing home for almost 5 years (2014-19) and I've seen an assortment of things.

Mon, Apr 01, 2024And I was working in one, it almost destroyed me, how the people were treated there. I had to quit after a year, me alone against the others, trying to give the elderly at least a little bit of dignity back, while others treated them like stupid people.
