A world without mental pigeonholes
3D Render by Fanfaria"I wish for a world without mental pigeonholes, without mentally conditioned prejudices. A world in which everyone is loved and respected just as they are. A world in which no one has to be ashamed of who they are and how they are. A world in which no one has to be afraid because they are the way they are. We put everyone into mental boxes called: age group, religion, hair color, colleagues, family, and so on. This immediately creates boxes: doesn't belong to the age group, believes in a different religion, has a different hair color, is just my boss, doesn't belong to the family, and so on. We base perhaps 80 to 90 percent of our lives on these mental boxes and the norms and expectations that apply within these boxes. Jokes about blondes are funny, jokes about your own hair color are not. Discriminating against another religion is perfectly acceptable, but being discriminated against because of your own religion is a disgrace. It's OK to vent to your colleagues about your bad job, but when you're with your boss you just smile politely and leave. The family's wishes and expectations of oneself are not questioned, but carried out/fulfilled. However, deep down one has a different opinion and actually wants something different. When we see a couple in love on the street, we are happy for their happiness. If the age difference is not normal, we are offended. Why don't we as a humanity just stop doing this? Why don't we just accept that everyone is different (and that's a good thing!)?
We could just as well love and appreciate every person as they are. With their different opinions, their different appearance, their different backgrounds and so on. And still love and appreciate them because every person is a human being, just like us.
We could approach every person with the same openness, honesty and appreciation as if they were part of the mental box we put ourselves in. Because we are all inhabitants of planet Earth, we are all human, we all need something to eat and drink. We all have feelings, wishes, hopes and needs. I don't know how you feel, but I wish for a world without boxes in the heads of the people. A world in which I can be who I am and love the way I love without fear, regret or shame. A world in which my love is received as it is meant, without fear, regret or shame, and I am understood as I am inside."
