Edge of the World Salvage
3D Render by Henry1850This crew stopped at the last salvage and supply depot to pick up ammo, spare parts and other supplies. They are headed out into the lost zone to find a weapon they got some intel on, but it may also be a trap.

What a scene.^^
I'm sure my PC could not handle this to render in one swop.
Did you break the scene in a few section or where you able to render this as whole scene?

Fri, Jan 02It was done in one run, but it took a really long render time. I did think of using Daz Canvases, which I do use sometimes. But that leads to other issues but it can add to the available options and tools in Post. I have a pretty hefty PC in this case I was pushing things.
First of all, my utmost praise for this scene.
You never cease to amaze me with where you find the strength and energy to constantly learn new techniques.
I'm glad that I've mastered the systems I use to a certain extent and simply don't have the energy to start something new. Even though I've tried here and there and succeeded in very few cases, I'd say that I'm just too comfortable to deal with new techniques.
Those who are familiar with it will also recognize the billboards, but that doesn't detract from this great scene in any way.
Once again, you've managed to surprise me.
GREAT WORK!

Sun, Jul 13, 2025First let me say that I have seen many scenes from you that I would even attempt. This is a fairly simple technique, though it is a little weird to setup. It's been a part of DS since version 4 first came out. I tried it around that time any I got discombobulated trying to wrap my head around it. A few years ago I tried again and it still felt strange, however I sssslllllloooowwwwlllllyyyy started to wrap my brain around it The background does not interact with any lights what so ever, no matter how bright. But you can add all the lights you want. The most important thing to remember is that the DS floor is the most the most important part of your scene setup.. You can also use HDRI lighting (pick wisely to match the environment. Then its on to Tone setting and environmental setting to match ground color and scene tinting to match. The shadows can be tricky but all shadows in 3D are, more so in this setup. My first one was OK and I never posted it, but I revisited it a few times. One trick I found is once you get all the assets setup and positioned just turn off the Env-background and do your final assets lighting, posing and tweaking. Then turn back on the Env-BG back on and do a test render (quick Iray render) Rinse and repeat.. Move using the camera (set Focal Length and camera height to match scene make sure camera light is off, then Lock the camera and create a new camera and use that to do all the lighting and final tweaking.
Thank you much for your sincere and thoughtful comment, If you ever have questions you know how to reach me.
