The Obsidian Guard Collection
3D Render by AriaReduxFor this challenge, I was pushing for a semi stylized Hybrid of Historical fashion & Sci-fi.
I started without a clear direction and just explored for a while. Eventually I was playing Lies of P for the first time and started thinking about Bloodborne and then the film Brotherhood of the Wolves. I didn't base my design off of anything specific from those inspirations beyond fixating on the general time period and style of hats, but they did give me a grounding element to work with. How would I blend something from those worlds into something a bit more Sci-Fi and find a believable balance?
I also wanted to find a way to strike another balance with the concept of fashion and combat ready.
That was my creative battle, and this is the result.
Ultimately my primary goal was to push my skills further and refine my wonky workflow for creating original characters for games and Animation.
Sculpting and modeling done in ZBrush and Blender. Texturing done with ZBrush, Photoshop & Substance Painter.
Original character created with CC4 and ZBrush.
I started working in UE5 for the final renders, but ended up rendering right out of CC4 and iClone8 for all the finals.
