Ondine
3D Render by mariana anastacioHello everyone!
This is my first time entering a RenderHub contest, or any online contest for that matter. I only came across this competition a bit close to the end so I couldn’t make it as complex as I’d like, but still I gave it my all and learned a lot!
The outfit “Ondinegets its name from a nymph of European folklore, and it's inspired by the sea and its creatures. It features a long, fitted dress that flows into a shell-like shape at the bottom. The large, curved headpiece partially covers the face, mimicking the top of a jellyfish. The pearls around the waist and the sleeves add delicate details, while the long hair with pearls gives an underwater feel.
My goal with this piece was to create something both delicate and mysterious. That’s why I chose darker ambient lighting with hints of pink, purple, and blue.
The outfit is completly original and was modeled in Blender from scratch. The character itself and the hair are from CG Trader and Sketchfab, both pre-made royalty-free models:
- Hair (which was previously white): https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/long-wavy-hair-396fba6fb55046f7aea5ce4dc59b6c28
- Body: https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-models/character/woman/free-stylized-cartoon-female-young-woman-with-perfect-topology
All of the renders were edited in Photoshop. I’ll also include an unedited render alongside the moodboard and wireframe screenshots for reference.
To give the piece a more official look, I designed a magazine cover and the first two pages, using Illustrator for the graphic design and Photoshop to place the designs into a mockup. The mockup I used is available here: https://unblast.com/magazine-mockup-on-black-background/
Thank you for reading!
