Cliodara Monarcha
3D Render by jaegermanjensenWelcome to my entry for the RenderHub Fashion Contest 2
Ensemble Overview & Fashion Blurb:
"CLIODARA MONARCHA"
/KLEE-oh-dah-rah mo-NAR-kha/ ("Cliodara, The Monarch")
Executive Smartwear and Battledress for women in command.
Apex Elegance Series
Designed for those who lead with precision and presence, their authority sharpened by elegance and underscored by allure that can disarm, persuade, or captivate across the table.
Striking in the boardroom, unwavering in volatile hot zones. Sophisticated enough for concert stages, engineered to shield when negotiation breaks down. Retro-inspired tailoring meets next-century Smartwear technology. 1980s angular dominance balanced by 1970s fluid sensuality, fused into a tailored silhouette that conceals advanced defenses.
Each Cliodara Monarcha is a masterwork, crafted to commission in vanishingly small numbers. Best suited to leaders who embody effortless grace, tactical discipline, and unshakable resolve.
Rooted in the mythos of Queen Cliodara; see the Lore section below for the full backstory.
---
Entry Structure:
This contest entry is presented in three sections, plus a supporting video:
Section 1 - Artistic Renders (Core Submission)
Section 2 - WIP Images & Video (creation footage, garment simulations, render previews; demonstrating that every image was produced without AI or external post-processing)
Section 3 - Lore, Concept & Technical Renders
*All images and the accompanying video are presented in 1920x1080 resolution.
The video accompanies section 2. The render demos don't show every final shot, but spotlight some of the trickier scenes (god-rays, smoke, holographic projections, volumetrics, and glow effects) that might otherwise resemble external postwork.

All renders shown in section 1 are raw beauty renders. No postwork, no AI-generated assets or images, no paintovers. All effects, grading, and stylization are achieved in-engine (see video for proof). Only compositing, including layout, text, and sequencing, were done externally.
Section 1 - Artistic Renders
This section is the visual centerpiece of the entry, a narrative tour through the Cliodara Monarcha ensemble. The renders highlight the outfit and its accessories across varied poses, lighting setups, camera angles, and distances. The goal is to show functionality - or at least the illusion of it - while embracing theatrical visual storytelling.
Part 1 : Presents the default dress mode and core accessories, including the seven main images above.
Part 2 : Focuses on the signature accessory, the Mistilteinn Railshade, in its parasol configuration.
Part 3 : Features the alternate defensive form, 'Cliodara Vestalis', paired with the Widow's Crest headwear and the Railshade in gun mode.

A queen's final gesture,
a curtsy, not to yield, but to honor the room with reverence.
Because true beauty lowers with grace,
and true majesty rises with humility.

Section 2 - WIP
The nuts and bolts: wireframes, clay renders, and snapshots from the creation of key assets, as required by contest rules. The supporting video also doubles as proof of authenticity. I won't show every single process, but if the judges want a specific proof or step-by-step breakdown. I'll be glad to provide it.
Note on Topology
Some topologies may look ' messy', but this is intentional, not AI-generated. I sculpt high-poly concepts, decimate them to preserve detail while keeping assets light, and use tools like 'Smart UV Project' in Blender, or 'UV Master' in Zbrush, before texturing in Substance 3D Painter. Assets aren't subdivided at render time, which works well for still images. Contest admins confirmed that clean topology isn't required and visual impact is what counts.
Simulated garments were created in CLO and imported directly for rendering, which is why the meshes are dense and triangulated. I prefer tris over quads for cloth sims because they behave more predictably and, in my eyes at least, just look more accurate. If I later sell the assets, I will likely do proper retopology, re-UV, and bake textures onto the new meshes.

Section 3 - Lore, World-Building, Concept & Technical
This section extends beyond the contest's scope, but I thought it would be fun to share for anyone who enjoys an extra layer of immersion (lore nerds like me, especially). The visuals are woven into the story so the narrative and imagery flow together.
Here you'll find the backstory of Queen Cliodara, campaign-style blurbs and descriptions for the outfit and its accessories, technical/detail renders, concept art, design sketches, and some easter eggs for those who notice them. I've also included some custom artworks from pre-production that helped shape the narrative and link it to the visuals.
Feel free to dive into the lore and renders together, or enjoy them separately. Either way, I hope it adds another dimension to the project and offers a glimpse into the creative mindset that brought it to life.
