This creature started life as a doodle that I created during the summer in my sketchbook. I decided I liked the creature enough to use it as the base for my Horrific Render Contest entry.

The model was sculpted and textured using Zbrush and then placed within an environment in Unreal Engine (the brick ruins in the background were imported from a collection on Fab.com) . Here I also added the lighting and smoke effects and rendered the final images - I imaged this creature living within a world that has long since fallen apart and it has only survived by shedding any vestiges of its humanity.

The final touches were added to the exported renders in After Effects.
