The Witcher IV - Cinematic Reveal Trailer
3D Render by NathanielThe Witcher is a series that is particularly close to my heart, so I'm happy to have finally been able to work on it. Together with my friends from Platige Image, we created a 6-minute trailer for CD Projekt Red announcing their new game. This was my first such a big project in Unreal Engine that I had the pleasure to work on.
My task here, as always, was floating around creating materials and textures. As per the specifics of working on real-time projects - I also spent a lot of time on troubleshooting problems (material or those arising from lighting/settings). Most of the props and characters were created by the talented art team from CD Projekt Red (so credits are due to them, of course!), but these elements had to be refined for the purposes of the trailer. I worked on one of the main characters - Mioni, together with my colleague Max Bianchini we detailed her textures and worked on materials. I made her flower crown textures and materials from scratch based on a game model. I also had the pleasure of working on a lookdev of her eyes in a shot with a large close-up (after putting on a flower crown). I also worked on Ciri's veins effect (after drinking the potion) and its setup in Unreal (the animation mask of the spreading effect was prepared by Rafal Sadowy). I also worked on materials/debugging many vfx effects and detailing several side characters (the women who wash Mioni and a few characters in the village).

It was a difficult but very rewarding project that I will remember for a long time! Thanks to all involved
