Pool, Swimming, Convoluted, V1 3D Model
POOL, SWIMMING, CONVOLUTED, V1
A free 3D model by Luke Turner (AKA Luqu, Luqu Trnr, Lukon100, Volcanoface, Doubt45, Illuwuz).
Note: If I revise this model and re-issue it, I will increment the "V1" to "V2" and so on.
It is convoluted because it has a complicated shape, including a cave.
I originally made this swimming pool to go with the house model I made called the "Top Wide" house. I never did release the Top-Wide house.
Later I made a huge room to go around this pool. And now here it all is.
The big room has a balcony hallway and wide footbridge that goes right over the pool, from which characters can look down to the pool from above.
Includes water surface ripple iRay shader with displacement and normal maps by Amyaimie. (Included with their permission.)
6,552 polygons and 6,491 vertices for the whole scene with all possible parts loaded.
SHORTCOMINGS
This 3D model ain't perfect. Its construction reflects my current beginner's skill level with Blender.
But it looks ok from a typical distance, I think.
VERSIONS AND FEATURES
This download includes the model in both DAZ Studio format and .obj format.
It is modular. You can use the pool without the room, and add only water surface, ladders and light discs as desired.
Just don't move or scale any of the parts before loading the other parts, so they will load in at proper relative positions. After assembling, parent them together and move or scale as desired.
---Water Surface---
It is just a big square plane. Adjust the water level with Y-translate.
In Daz Studio, add water ripples with the Water Ripple shader in the "Materials" sub-folder. - shader, not a materials preset; so ya gotta select the water surface in the "Surfaces" tab before applying it.
In the .OBJ version, add water ripples using the displacement and normal maps provided (by Amy_Aimei).
OR… use your own water shaders! Use ice and have your figures go skating!
---Ladders---
In both Daz Studio and .OBJ versions, you can Load in a single ladder and place it as desired.
In Daz Studio, the single ladder comes with adjustable rail collars added that give the rails a properly terminated appearance when the ladder is used in shallow parts of the pool. You can delete these added collars for use in deep parts of the pool.
In .OBJ, you'll need to add these extra rail collars yourself as needed.
The Daz Studio version has a "Ladders Set 1" icon that will load a group of ladders to the pool, some of which are instances. This instancing may freak you out if you parent a figure to the master version, as that same figure will appear on the instances as well. Fix: unparent that figure.
---Light Discs---
In both Daz Studio and .OBJ versions, you can Load in a single light disc and place it as desired.
Adjust the brightness using the "Luminance" property slider in the "Surfaces" tab, for the material zone called "Light_Disk_Lights".
The Daz Studio version has a "Pool Floor Lights" icon that will load a group of light discs to the pool bottom, all but one of which are instances parented to the master one. Adjust the brightness of the master disc, and the instances will adjust likewise automatically - except the ones in the "cave". The cave ones are part of the pool basin.
The .OBJ version has the group of light discs in a mesh file called "Basin Floor Lights.obj".
---Platform Step---
Add this part if desired. Helps people characters get up onto the divingboard platform, and serves as a decent bench to sit on.
---Divingboard---
No divingboard provided. But the divingboard platform is a great place to put one.
Here is a free one I like: Beverly Hills Hilton Diving Board, by Poses17, as can be found on DeviantArt. Link in the readme file.
Download and install that divingboard, and I've got an icon that will position it on the divingboard platform for you, in the "Poses" sub-folder, called "Position BHH Divingboard".
---Room---
Huge room has side entrance/exits, skylight ceiling windows, balcony hall and wide footbridge. Imagine the changing/shower rooms just around the corner down the entrance/exit halls.
When shooting renders in the balcony hall area, you might want to cap off the ends of the hall with some additional T-intersection hallways I named "Tunnel Extention"s.
MATERIALS
Both format versions are UV mapped.
I have tried to label all the material zones comprehensibly, in English.
The Daz studio version includes a water surface ripple shader that can be applied to any water surface of any model.
This shader is in the "Materials" sub-folder.
Other programs can use the raw water surface displacement and normal maps which can be found in this download in the .OBJ version folder, or downloaded directly from Amy Aimei. Link in the readme file.
