Thank you very much.
Vase, Crystal, Orrefors, P 9209 221, V2 3D Model
------------------------------------- Vase, Crystal, Orrefors, p 9209 221, V2 -----------------------------------------
A free 3D model by Luke Turner (AKA Luqu, Luqu Trnr, Lukon100, Volcanoface, Doubt45, Illuwuz).
Note: If I revise this model and re-issue it, I will increment the V2 to V3 and so on.
This V2 release offers the standard model in a slightly lower vertex count than V1,
and offers an extremely lo-poly version for distance shots.
V1 vase = 12,962 verts
V2 vase = 8,368 verts
V2 vase lo-poly = 296 verts
IRL, it is a vase that my mother has in her apartment. I modeled it from a photograph she sent me.
She claims it is 7 inches tall. So I made it 7 inches tall.
I suspect the "p" in the "p 9209 221" means the vase was designed by Sven Palmqvist,
who is also credited with designing other vases I have seen on-line that look really similar.
"9209" is apparently the model number, what they call a "pattern" number.
I don't know what "221" is. Perhaps a serial number or date code.
SHORTCOMINGS =========================================================================================================
This 3D model ain t perfect. Its construction reflects my current beginner s skill level with Blender.
But it looks ok from a typical distance, I think.
The inner surface of this model does not have a curvy surface that mostly parallels the outer surface,
as does the real vase.
VERSIONS AND FEATURES ================================================================================================
I include a normal resolution version and a low poly version of the vase and the liquid.
Normal vase is 8,368 vertices / 8,440 faces.
Lo-Poly vase is 296 vertices / 314 faces.
--[ FILE FORMAT OPTIONS ]-- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This download includes the model in both Daz Studio prop format and .obj format.
--[ PARTS ]-- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I also include a shape for liquid inside the vase, as a separate model that you can parent to the vase and apply liquid shaders to. Then you can make the vase's "Interior_Liquid_Interface" material zone invisible to make it look more contiguous with the vase in terms of surface refraction.
--[ TEXTURING ]-- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Daz Studio version uses the default resources glass shader for the vase and the water shader for the liquid.
The vase is UV mapped.
The vase has material zones:
Exterior
Rim
Interior
Interior_Liquid_Interface
This liquid has material zones:
Liquid_in_Vase
Liquid_in_Vase_Top_Surface
