Make It Yourself Sci-Fi Beams Tutorial
Have you ever just wanted or needed something different looking to augment your sci-fi scene? This package in the Make-it-Yourself series will show you how to supplement your artwork and animation scenes with customized beams for a wide-variety of uses that you can create yourself. You will learn how to create your own custom 3D enhancements using techniques and tools available in Daz Studio (no other apps required). You will learn how to create and build different types of beams, and then refine those with surface settings to get the look and feel you desire. Even though this guide is not intended for creating props to sell, you can further develop your skill set with other tutorial products available from us like our Modeling Made Simple series.
REQUIRES: Daz Studio 4.10+ and WMV Viewer
Please note that this training was developed with Daz Studio 4.10 and may differ from future releases/versions of Daz Studio.
CONCEPTS covered include:
- Designing beams with available shapes
- Customize surface colors for desired effect
- Adding image-based noise channel for realism
- Adding Iray emission color for glow effects
This training package consists of eight (8) HD quality videos in WMV format with resolution of 1600x900 for a total running time of 1 hour 12 minutes.

- Classic retro-style sci-fi with ray guns and other ageless weapons of destruction
- Close-up combat scenes using saber weapons for those who choose to fight wars in the stars
