Generative AI, Artists and Business. A Look At This Technology And It's Impact

In The Era of AI
These days we are hearing about AI on almost a daily basis. It has become part of our lives in ways most of us probably did not expect. Whether you love it or hate it, an undeniable fact is that AI is here to stay and will continue to be a bigger part of our lives. It benefits us every day in ways we couldn't imagine. But can we find a balance between this new technology and humanity? I think we can, but it is going to take some effort.

In The Beginning
An English mathematician and computer scientist named Alan Turing had suggested that humans use available information as well as reason in order to solve problems and make decisions, so why can't machines do the same thing? This was the logical framework of his 1950 paper, "Computing Machinery and Intelligence" in which he discussed how to build intelligent machines and how to test their intelligence.
Five years later, the proof of concept was initialized through Allen Newell, Cliff Shaw and Herbert Simon's Logic Theorist. This was a program designed to mimic the problem-solving skills of a human and is considered to be the first artificial intelligence program. This was the very beginning of what was to become AI as we know it today; the technological seeds that are changing the world right before our very eyes.

AI Technology Benefits All of Us
As humans, we are constantly learning and moving forward as a species. Consider what the world looks like today compared to 100 years ago, or for that matter 500 years ago. We are advancing at an astonishing rate, and it is because each generation learns and moves forward from the previous. AI is a natural part of that progression. It is a technology that will inevitably continue to advance, learn and become more powerful.
I myself have seen the incredible leap forward in some of the AI tools we use at RenderHub every day. AI powers software that can upscale and denoise images in ways that were not possible before. And recently we have implemented AI to make our site search more powerful for our users. AI has changed what is possible in so many ways. It has raised the limits of what technology is capable of. So many areas of science, from medicine to engineering, are already seeing huge advancements all thanks to AI.
What is Generative AI and How Is It Different?
You may have heard the term Generative AI, this refers to a subset of artificial intelligence that involves generating new content, data, or even behaviors that mimic those created by humans. Generative AI can create new content, such as images, text, music, or even video. This creative aspect sets it apart from other types of AI.
Using generative AI raises ethical questions about authorship, ownership, and the fair use of AI-generated content. AI models learn from existing content, which raises serious questions about whether this could constitute plagiarism. Concerns that generative AI will reduce or even possibly eliminate jobs for artists are becoming more real.

The Impact of Generative AI
AI is arguably the most advanced and powerful tool the world has ever seen. However, it is still just a tool and should never be a replacement for human creativity. But these days, Generative AI is encroaching on the creative world in ways that has been especially problematic for artists. And unfortunately, because there is money to be made, companies who traditionally embraced artists are now abandoning them for big profits. I believe, in time, this will prove to be a misstep.
Imagine a world without song writers, authors, photographers, painters, animators, actors, or anyone else who has made creating art a part of their life. So many artists are getting frustrated with what is happening. Some have even stepped away from being creative for fear their work will just be consumed by AI bots only to be regurgitated as an "original" AI creation. We risk losing those who have made art their lives, and I feel companies have a responsibility to protect human artists. The business world has to do more to ensure that artists continue to flourish and creativity reigns as king over technology. We cannot stand idly by and watch this all unfold without doing something about it.
Where Does RenderHub Stand on Generative AI?
I want to affirm that as a business, RenderHub will never adopt generative AI as a source of content, either in our galleries or in our marketplace. RenderHub is a home for creativity and a place where artists can grow and have freedom of expression. We take steps to protect our artists by adding the "noimageai" meta tags to all our gallery pages, letting AI bots know that it is not OK to scrape images from our website. This may afford us recourse in the future as laws evolve to address the AI dilemma we face today. So please keep creating no matter what, and know that RenderHub will always support human creators over AI.
"Imagination is more important than knowledge"
- Albert Einstein
I'm using A.I. just for faster questions and answers and also for programming, codes in Python, C# etc,
I don't use it to create 3D or 2D characters, firstly because it doesn't have the consistency and also the issue of 3D Topology is all bugged (based on the tests I did).
In 2D it generates incredible images, with perfection, anyone who works with a 2D graphic designer can benefit a lot, but 3D is still very limited, it takes more work to improve the Meshes generated by A.I. than creating manually.
Even if the A.I. achieve a very high level of quality. I will always want to manually create my 3D characters. I never even liked using other people's characters in any project, I like everything personalized and that I made it myself.
However, whoever prefers to use it, I have nothing against it, a lot of things are being improved through Artificial Intelligence.
