Characters
169After analyzing the textures of the characters, I see many inconsistencies. While some reach the limit of realistic detail, others lack somethingthey are flat, dull, and rubbery.

Can you name any other commercial product industry
where ALL of the vendors are producing top of the limit
quality?
Seems pretty easy to just avoid the ones that do not meet your expectations and support the ones who do.

Wed, Apr 02The quality of what is delivered to the client is super inconsistent. Sometimes, there are excellent, well-modeled models with realistic textures, and other times, there are models with flat, rubber-like textures. They should be more careful with what they release; it's either very good or very bad.

I was wondering why people buy characters for their morph or their texture?
Naively, I thought that if a character had a pleasing morph and a disappointing texture, the user would switch to a texture they liked.
The same goes for props and environments. I like a model but the texture doesn't suit me, so I change the texture and use wood instead of metal or another type of wood!
It's true that the majority of my props and clothing have a square or rectangular texture precisely so that the user can personalize my creations.

Wed, Apr 02It took me a while before I realized how easy it is to switch "skins" on a model.
To your point, I've bought characters for their skin, for their head (morph), and yes for their body (morph)
. Mix and matching with eyes from a fourth model extends the use of the characters. I do feel bad about buying characters with backstories...

They'll market themselves as top-tier while simultaneously slashing artist pay, rushing deadlines, and exploiting talent. What customers don't see is the predatory business practices - terminating veteran artists while desperately scrambling for cheaper replacements, then acting shocked when quality plummets. The exploitative underbelly of this industry isn't visible in their marketing materials.

Find characters that are "HD" in their title (usually costing more) mostly have 8k textures, and PBR Skins. I would also say G9 characters and hair are very detailed.
I love G8, but if you want high quality+, what I suggested above.
Note, they can be very heavy to render
