I must be an outsider over there at DAZ, because my needs and requirements for products seem so far of the mainstream and my judgment of the mainstream is admitedly harsh as well.
Main issue is, that I have neither a use nor understanding for having an overload of toony/stylized characters and american cultur centric props (especially not NOW!).
So here is my product suggestion, that got mostly ignored, except by the moderator Richard. Thanks Richard
"I'd like to see some ABBA-1975 characters G8/G9 in the store.
Maybe in a bundle with stage props, clothes and hairs.
If it was for G9, I finally had a reason to buy some G9 stuff

I didn't know Richard was an ABBA fan too, but cannot blame him!
Do you have a link to that thread?
I'd love to see Agnetha Fältskog done as a look-a-like, and as I said on Daz I'm amazed Daz hasn't done her as a Daz Original since she was an absolute goddess back in the day. Incredibly beautiful. To be honest I think our best bet is probably totocandy since that's his thing. Only trouble is, even if he did her she would likely be I.P. Restricted so she would be no use to me personally.
I agree about the content over there tending to be mainly American culture and stylised.
But yeah, plenty of reference material out there for Agnetha Fältskog, a fair amount of it even without makeup, so for anyone good at replicating figures, she should be quite easy to do accurately. Sadly she never appeared nude, however, with Agnetha Fältskog all you needed was the face!

Ah right, cheers., I thought you meant he was enthusiastic about it.
Looking at that 'Look-A-Like' thread though, I think the problem is (as usual), is social media influence. People don't realise that they're trapped in a bubble designed to rid them of a better past in order to make it easier to sell them a dire future.
I've never even heard the vast majority of celebrities mentioned in that thread.

Wed, Apr 16Nice picture of her BTW.
It must have been from 1979? Maybe?
I think, my crush time has been around rrival“ and he Album“.
I blame Agnetha in person to have started my puberty.

I would say you're not far off either way I think. The stage of face development in that one looks to be around the time of "Take A Chance On Me", which I have to say I love those random face close-ups that appear.
The eyes in those close-ups, damn, that's why I say with Agnetha, all you needed was the face - just insanely beautiful!

Tue, Apr 15Thank you.
Too bad, and mostly ignored over at DAZ.
The digital character mainstream is obviously quite narrow nowadays.

I find that the real difficulty with clothing is the texture of certain outfits, which I think are not easy to reproduce. I think this is one of the explanations for the lack of disco outfits from this period.

The lack of disco outfits and any support for disco related products is in how poorly they sell
Causam3D has Fever https://www.renderhub.com/causam3d/fever-sexy-dance-costume-for-genesis-8-and-8-1-female
A disco outfit with some add ons available
It has been in the store since 2021 and has sold less than 2 dozen
It goes on sale regularly and yet does not move
Sexy skimpy clothing (or bikinis) released around that time or even after have sold far more
[I am Causam3D's business partner so I have access to all the date we are provided as selling artists here]
If users are voting with their wallets than they need to better support the clothing they want rather than hope that someone will come along and answer their desires.
As for characters, making characters is where its at....but making a specific likeness is hard (in my experience which is different from others)
Also, if you make a character and name them after someone real, you will have an IP Restricted License which will strangle your sales since people cannot use your product to make money, they can't use the character in their comics or any similar application.
If you want these things then you will probably have to commission an artist to make them.
That is not cheap.

Well stated
I have seen Many Daz PAs get burned by listening to a few
highly vocal forumites crooning that such and such exotic item would be an " instant buy" if someone would make it.
only to spend weeks in production and the Daz QA approval process and sell not a single copy .
So glad I learned to model My own clothing content.

Wed, Aug 06I've been in the 'Poserverse' since the very beginning and I fondly remember when it was more of a hobby. I still have my dead tree copy of 'Making characters for Poser 5 by B.L. Render'. People made a wide variety of clothes and items because they wanted them, not to make a billion bucks. This is why Vicky Four has such a massive and varied wardrobe.
At some point, mostly because of Daz, it became geared towards the professional content artists who pumped out tons of me-too clothes.
Daz could be a lot more supportive of amateur item artists but I feel that they want to keep a lid on it as far as possible so that they control the market.

Some time ago I made these flared pants that fit the fashion of that period
