i'll explain my topic better , the passion for creating 3D is gone , because of the rise of AI . a random person with zero skills can create a stunning 3D animation/VFX/Video/3D models with ease

Fri, Jul 04I don't really agree; he doesn't create anything; he makes a request (to the AI) by describing what he wants to achieve.
I consider using AI not art, it's promptology.
For example, in this thread https://www.renderhub.com/forum/10773/ai-generated-vs-ai-enhanced
I included two links to a text written by chatGPT and set to music by suno. I am in no way an author, composer, performer, or musician.
It's the same for a drawing or animation created by AI; it's not an artist.

Before prefab programs like Poser or Daz studio " a random person with zero skills" could NOT create any of the sexy girl renders ( with ease) that currently dominate galleries like the one on this very site.
The cycle continues.

Fri, Jul 04The Poser Renderosity gallery is prove enough, that even today without skills, you still won't get anything done in Poser.
A few lines of prompts on the other hand and you can get some eye candy, but meaningless images.
AI is just boring self repeating crap.

Fri, Jul 04When you use DAZ or Poser, you’re blending shapes made by lots of talented people using their creativity. But those shapes and textures aren’t made in the software itself. An artist has to model them first, shaping every detail, and then tweak things so the body looks natural when posed. Another artist handles the clothing, someone else designs the environment, and so on.
The person who pulls all these pieces together is an artist too, just like a photographer doesn’t create the people or places they shoot. They go through a careful, tricky process to make it all look just right... tweaking the lighting, mixing and matching elements, placing everything perfectly, and so forth.
With AI, you can just type “Draw Hot GURL,misspelled like that, and get a flat, lifeless hot girl with none of the heart or effort of real artistry, still produced from the images of countless people and artists (as AI really doesn't create, it mix and matches from human created things).

No .
as soon as they have the next contest where people won't actually need to have 3D content creation skills (modeling) .
then you will see far more hype about it.

Sat, Jul 05I think you're right. The current contest is very limiting to people with very specific skill sets. The next render contest will probably have plenty of participants.
Quote:I consider using AI not art, it's promptology.
You are correct
and not everyone in a company will have time, desire or the language skills to become an effective "AI promptologist."
so those who do, may still have work for little while, at least until the AI system can literally read minds.
Call it "AI slop" all you want.
Better to be an "AI promptologist" earning at least some money than to be someone clinging to the lofty title of "Artist" yet unable to compete at scale.

This topic has been making the rounds in all 3D communities and here's my take on it.
(originally posted somewhere else)....
I feel that it's more than just results. We had this conversation some years back and many of us agreed that the process can be just as much fun and satisfying as the end result. Loading a scene (interior or exterior), adding props and furniture, loading some characters then dressing and posing them is a hoot all on it's own and something that's not possible with AI. We called it 'playing with dolls'. I get so involved with that and frequently a screenshot is good enough for me. I'm running Stable Diffusion on my desktop but don't use it often as it doesn't provide that level of interactivity that I find so intriguing and just plain fun.
I'm not so much interested in the final result, as I'm more interested in the enjoyment of CREATING that final result. I've spent weeks worth of evenings working on a plastic model only to put it on a shelf and rarely look at it. It's all that time fiddling with details that I had such fun doing. When I look at it, THAT'S what I remember.
People doing AI pictures are missing out on that. What I DO want from AI is a render engine that doesn't take a million years to deliver good results.
Oh yes, predictions of AI replacing 3D are probably not going to pan out. Photography didn't kill traditional painting. People still buy and use oil paints. I have oils and acrylics and several airbrushes too. AI is being hyped now but will settle down and find it's place, just like all the other mediums.

I kinda agree, it is not going far enough, I think.
The process is crutial. Without the process of making, struggeling and investing cerebral energy into your work, your results mean nothing.

That is understandable. The current AI reality is, that every post render AI filter halluzinates stuff into the final results. Face, lights colors are changing. AI renders don't just calculate light rays better, or detect skin and make skin look more realistic. That is not happening.
AI can step in, where conventional computing is to consumptious, where conventional calculations fail.

This exactly^^
AI will not take away your option to enjoy your artistic,3D modeling ,animation or Daz prefab content scene assembly process.
And to those who say " but what about the jobs?,"
I have a serious question.
WHAT IS YOUR JOB??
Are you currently below retirement age and making a full time living from your Art process?
I ask because I have observed a profound pattern
with the most vocal online anti AI activists in that they do not have professional portfolios
(Freelance or employer based)
that would indicate that they are making their full time living from their art
and is now threatened by AI
And I mean an actual living (food housing etc.)
not just some gallery art online somewhere with the tagline "accepting commissions"
Nothing wrong with being a hobbyist or occasional freelancer, but again
AI won't take way your traditional Art tools
or your hobby and you still have the option
to chase after those rare freelance clients, that you claim will always insist on "the human touch"
It appears to me that, for most part this, is not even a practical/financial threat to them in the way that Digital photography was to the professional chemical engineers at Eastman kodak.
I see this as more of an emotion driven, idealogical ,quasi political , crusade against
both "the evil corporations" that are embracing AI tech
and the "cheating" generative AI users who have failed to "pay their dues" and "made the artist struggle" etc.
All while most of these anti AI crusaders are likely carrying and using smart phones.
The very 8K resolution photographic
video devices from "greedy corporations" , that destroyed the actual jobs of those same, long forgotten, professional chemical engineers at Eastman kodak.

I think some may be a bit more receptive of AI if it was used to more or less replace the lorem ipsum, both verbally and visually. Need a quick painting for some background object? AI has you covered. Need some filler text about a certain something for a certain display screen? AI has something for you.
Instead, AI is basically being used for instant gratification of fantasy fulfillment.

Pop over to DA and tell me
that the average Daz studio "artist" is using Daz studio for some noble benefit for humanity at large
such as ...
Medical research?
Fraud detection in the banking sector or the government?
instant translation of critical news information to multiple exotic languages that are typically given low priority or outright ignored by the culturally dominant western media ?
"instant gratification of fantasy fulfillment "
is a multi-billion dollar industry
comprised of many branches from sports to movies, TV, escapist fantasy novels etc.
most of it is repetitive formulaic "slop" all made by real humans
with traditional creative tools
( formerly motion picture film cameras and type writers
now computers.)
Generative AI is just yet another one of such tools being used by those same humans just with more speed and efficiency
and more accessibility to those with ZERO natural born skill or the time and means to get formal training.

Sun, Jul 06Is there anyone more of an AI enthusiast than you?
This is the question I ask myself because every time someone criticizes AI you respond to remind them of its usefulness.

Sure there is and they are the ones handing over their money for things like VEO 3 AI video or spending hours on paid services like Midjourney cranking out endless AI Content.
I am an animator and my primary use of AI is for Human voice generation followed by royalty free music tracks for my animations
I only use the FREE services because I refuse to pay for AI generation unless there is reasonable potential for a ROI
such as the AI restyled Daz renders I used to illustrate my 92 page graphic novel selling on Amazon.

To those of us that are neutral on the whole AI stuff, people that are constantly shitting on AI are just as annoying as the defenders are a lot of the time lol. AI is a useful tool for some things. AI controlling NPC in SkyrimVR is probably my favorite use of AI I have seen yet. And having a narrator using whatever voice and personality you give it makes for more spice in a pretty old game lol.
