Help requested: G8F Opens as New w/ Unwanted Morphs Dialed In By Default
98As a longtime Daz/Rendo whale, I have a monstrous library of DS aftermarket assets for G8F. I have to assume this problem came from some janky 3rd party addons besides just Cora fiddling with the base figure's defaults. This is especially a pain when I merge in a figure that's already customized just the way I wanted it for production.

Searching through the text file doesn't locate the offending morphs. Where would the settings I'm looking for be, and how can I remove them without breaking my base figure?
Thought I'd try asking real people instead of some AI chatbot for a change, in the hopes this forum is more helpful than... that other one.
Thanks for your time.

Unfortunately most daz PAs or a lot of them compress their files, so searching via text in file won't work.
I'd do this in two ways:
1. Brute force. Go to your data/daz3d/Genesis 8/Female/morphs folder, and begin by removing a group of authors, perhaps 20 folders at a time. Do not delete them, simply cut them into a temporary folder. Delete your G8 and add it back each time you do this. Once the issue stops, you will know it is in one of those 20 authors, and then continue refining until you find the specific author -> character morph and just delete that one.
2. I am going by memory, so I hope this is accurate. Use a clean Genesis where the bad morph is auto-dialed, set it to zero, and go to::

and save the genesis 8, that now will have the figure dialed to zero.

sorry for the compressed reply hi, hi, hi
sorry for the compressed reply hi, hi, hiFor your information, there is a free tool that allows you to compress and decompress duf and dsf files.

You could try replacing the existing Genesis8_1Female.dsf file in your data directory with a clean version from the Genesis 8 Female Starter Essentials.
If that fixes the problem, some vendor may have included a mucked-up version of the file in their product package - and it overwrote the good version without you realizing it.
Another thing I've seen vendors do is include a mucked-up base figure .dsf file in some other random data folder in their product package. If that gets installed, it will mess things up - since there will now be two. You could try searching your data directory to make sure there's only the one where it's supposed to be.

Or just do the slow scroll. Go to parameters and first go under actor/people and see if there are any at 100%. If it's hard-dialed in like that, someone might have accidentally set the character's default at 100% instead of 0%, so it won't necessarily show under currently used. It's easier to catch than you think it would be since all the rest will read zero. Just keep your eye fixed on that column. You find it, drag it down to zero, then edit the parameter to set the default to zero. Then go to File/Save as/Support Assets/Save modified assets and it should present a list of what you just changed, and you'll never have to f... with it again.

Thanks all for the comments so far. Save Modified Assets hasn't worked. Still troubleshooting...

I have a similar problem with some parameters that aren't set to 0. Since I identified them, I set them all to 0 and then saved
File/Save as/Shaping Preset.
It's not ideal, but it works

Sun, Aug 03I saved in the same folder as Genesis and I click on this patch every time I use this version of Genesis
VICTORY!
OK. Here's what I got to work:
- JUST Save Modified Assets didn't work
- JUST Memorize (zeroed) Figure didn't work
I had to go in a specific order:
Show Hidden Properties > Zero Figure > Memorize Figure > THEN Save Modified Assets
Below I will post the Gemini summary for those of you who might have a use for it:

This is a frustrating, but common, issue in Daz Studio when working with a large content library. The good news is there is a well-established procedure for resetting the default values. The fact that "Save Modified Assets" isn't working for you in the usual way is a symptom of the issue itself, not a separate problem. Your add-ons have likely changed the default value in the underlying morph files, which Daz Studio is loading every time.
The key is to not only zero out the morphs, but to also tell Daz Studio that this zeroed state is the *new* default. The "Memorize Figure" function is a crucial step in this process.
Here's the procedure you should follow to fix your Genesis 8 Female figure:
1. Prepare the Scene
* Close Daz Studio and reopen it to an empty scene. This is important to ensure no other figures or assets are influencing the outcome.
* Load the "Genesis 8 Basic Female" figure (not one of your custom character presets).
2. Zero the Figure and Memorize the New Defaults
* Select the Genesis 8 Female figure in the Scene tab.
* In the Parameters tab, right-click on the tab itself to bring up the context menu.
* Choose Preferences > Show Hidden Properties. This is a critical step, as some of the unwanted morphs might be hidden by default.
* Right-click the Parameters tab again.
* Choose Zero > Zero Figure. This will zero out all the dial values, including any hidden ones.
* Right-click the Parameters tab one more time.
* Choose Memorize > Memorize Figure. This is the action that tells Daz Studio to set the current (zeroed) values as the new default for all morphs.
3. Save the Modified Assets
* Go to the main menu and select File > Save As > Support Asset > Save Modified Assets.
* A dialog box will appear showing a list of files that will be permanently modified. This list should include the morphs that were previously loading with non-zero values.
* Review the list to make sure you're only modifying the morphs you want to fix. If you see morphs that you know should have non-zero defaults, uncheck them.
* Click Accept.
After following these steps, when you "Open As New" with your Genesis 8 Female figure, it should load with all morphs and transforms set to zero. If this doesn't solve the problem, you may have a content directory issue or a deeply corrupted morph file. In that case, you may need to try reinstalling the "Genesis 8 Starter Essentials" from Daz Install Manager (or Daz Central) and repeating this process.
