Hi, I'm a quiet one so this is my first and likely last post ( autism! what you going to do?). After using poser & daz studio for 20 plus years I have now embraced AI, ok before folks start saying its not art etc consider what daz studio does. Its free that's a plus but to use it you need to spend a lot of money, seriously add up what you've spent at at all of the content sites and you will be seriously shocked. You can make your own content not particularly easy & not to mention time consuming. the results are more often than not disappointing at best, yes you can fix a lot of stuff post work but not everyone is a whizz with photoshop etc. There is very rarely anything new just rehash's of stuff every other day not too mention (sorry) the absolute garbage that some creators expect people to give money for. I could go on. What used to be a enjoyable hobby for me has now gone the way of the dinosaurs. And so it's hello shiny new AI, its free and easy to run on your own pc no subscription needed ( stable diffusion XL) the content is mostly free not that any is actually needed and you can make your own relatively easily and the results are more often than not stunning! go and have a look over at deviant art you'll see, don't get stuck looking at the rude stuff though!! its not all porn. The way I see it is AI is like a jet fighter compared to a paper aeroplane. You need a good imagination to use AI effectively so it not just clicking a mouse and hey presto move over Leonardo. you have to put in the time actually typing what is effectively a short story when describing what your vision is to get truly good results with AI unless you're happy with a generic "woman naked or Man" job done. I'll shut now up now but please remember this is a personal opinion nothing more.

Good luck to you, and if you ever get tired of AI and want something clunky, ugly-looking, and totally out of the dinosaur era, like:

It's alright, we'll be here for you

Remember ,with AI, you do not have to completely abandon your Daz content.
Every single image in My 92 page graphic novel ,on Amazon, was made by setting up scenes with Daz content and making simple open GL renders and restyling them to comic art with the Flux AI engine.

But you are aware that this side is for content creators (mainly) to sell 3d stuff for many different programs.
And for content buyers, who love to create scenes with "their hands".
And for people, who are tired of hearing, how amazing this ai stuff is, while in fact for the majority here it is not.
Open a 3d program, load your assets and start moving them around, like you would in real life, when filling up a room with furniture and deco.
Or go into your garden and start creating beautiful flower beds. put one pot here and nope, maybe there or wait better there.
And you can't do this is a f*cking stupid AI,
So go ahead, write your prompts and be happy with the results. If you like print them out, hang them to your walls and enjoy.
And if people ask you can proudly say: Oh that was my idea, I wrote down all the words.
But please, spare us the praise of the ai.
Thanks

Wed, Aug 20Analogy: You, buy ingredients for a meal you combine them and then cook then eat, everything, all provided grown and made and devised by by someone else.
Me, I've only got a microwave I devised the recipe, grew the ingredients combined everything then cooked and ate a satisfying meal As I said it's a personal opinion.

Wed, Aug 20Well said @Beautiful Misfits.
I had never thought of going out of my way to visit an AI forum to praise painters, musicians, dancers, actors, artists in general, while diminishing and mocking those who use AI. I suppose we who enjoy creating have no time for such nonsense, who knows. At least, I rather use my free time to support those who like creating.
@yurifella Yes, you can cook in the microwave what others have grown and packaged for you, but you would never call yourself a chef for doing so. That would be silly.
Also, for your first analogy, equating cooking food to growing food is not the right analogy, because farming and cooking are two different things.

Wed, Aug 20And, because we still haven't got an edit button...
I can make "Frijoles Negros" following someone else's recipe, if that is what you intended with your analogy. But the reason my family says that I make mine better than those from a restaurant is not because I am reproducing a recipe. I make them my way, my abuelita's way, with an added sazón. Still, I will never call myself a chef.

we are wasting our time here, sadly enough.
Renderhub don't stand behind us anymore, the gates for AI are opened and one day they will say:
The spirits that I called
More and more programs are going down "thanks" to this AI.
Modo now too, once a freaking expensive program, now everyone can get a free copy.
What will be the next? Z-Brush maybe?
But hey, let's all praise the artificial intelligence and it seems, AI is already more intelligent than those people, who are praising their own downfall.

If I understand correctly, creating drawings is a hobby for you, so whether you use DAZ alone, whether you use AI alone, or a mix of both, it doesn't matter, the main thing is that in the end you get an image that you like. But if you publish it, you must specify that you used AI and to what extent. I mean pure AI or an improved/retouched rendering with AI, it's just a question of honesty towards the person who looks at your image

I can understand yurifella's frustration. As someone who enjoys creating fantasy, sci-fi, steampunk. cyberpunk, etc. more often than not I'm not able to produce the image I want with the available content. Years (decades??) ago, I created some of my own stuff to fill in the gap (and to reduce costs). I got lazy, and don't create much of my own stuff now, so I have to rely on what is available. As someone who has been doing this for over 20 years, I can also understand yurifella's realization of all the money spent purchasing DAZ/Poser assets, plugins, extremal software/renderers, etc. AI is MUCH less expensive!!
Most of my DAZ images are an exercise in compromise, which does lead to a certain amount of frustration. It also means that I often spend hours trying to find the best options for compromise to reach the final goal. While this can be fun at times, it can also be extremely frustrating. While AI also has it's own frustrations, I often get much closer to what I really want with AI. But, unlike what so many think, getting a great image (or what I think is great) is typically not just type a simple prompt and BAM, you have the image you want and your done. For me, it still takes lot of work/effort on my part to get to the final image. For anyone who is interested in seeing what actual work this might take, I uploaded an image to my gallery created with DAZ and AI. There is a fairly detailed description of the processes used. The Image can be seen here for anyone that might be interested.
With that in mind, I still enjoy using DAZ Studio (except for the non-scale able font issue). In fact I just got Cascadeur Pro to help create animations in DS (or possibly DAZ content in Blender). Yes, I know, "but Cascadeur uses AI". Yes it does ..... sort of. To get great character animation out of it you still need to do a lot of your own work to make everything look natural and fit with what you want. The "AI" only gets you part way there, and reduces some of the tedium of manually adding key frames between major movement keyframes. You also need to manually add all of your morph animations (soft bodies, hair, etc.), often in another software (DS). So the AI is just an efficiency aid, not a replacement for the animator. Anyway, I obviously would not have gotten Cascadeur if I didn't see the value of using DS vs AI. I really think there is a place for both to work together to improve your results, not to replace you or your content. Oh yes, before someone starts in with using Cascadeur is somehow immoral, they only use ethically sourced character movement information (they have their own studio, and hire motion actors to create their training data). Also, Cascadeur does not create the animations from a text prompt, it needs input from the user.

Indeed AI does continue frustrate me in my goal for its usage
I personally, am still waiting for an AI tool that can take my base 3D animation rendered frames and restyle them to a different look with 100 percent fidelity (both character and environment).
I initially thought that Reallusion had achieved this with their new Ai render based on the convoluted ComfyUI system
But from the threads over on the Reallusion forums
it is not even close yet for consistent animation rendering.
At this point AI systems like the GROK app from Elon Musk
can do a better job at creating consistent AI videos from scratch (for short clips on the free tier at least)
MY hope is to make full length cartoon/films like this

Why is it that you felt compelled to come on here and post this? The majority of us (probably 99%) could care less about your need to bash 3D and rave about AI. Post this in some AI forum where you'll have LOTS of sympathizers because you have very few here.

Thu, Aug 21Imagine you are the manager of a group of designers. You ask them to create a mockup for you, or perhaps your boss asks you to create a mockup of something. You provide the instructions, and they all get to work. They return with a wonderful design, and then you hurry to your boss and say, look, I created this, isn't it wonderful, I am truly skilled.

Thu, Aug 21To bring the analogy full circle, consider a 3D user who comes here, much like the manager. By the way, I fall into that category as well. I am not just a vendor; some of you might find me as one of your customers. Vendors, like the designers in my analogy, would create all these wonderful things that I might have a mockup in my head for. I spend the time finding the best angle from my point of view and playing with the lighting. Does the dress drape how I wanted it? The car in the background feels odd, so I move it to the left. I want the car door open, but it is not rigged, so I export it, split the geometry, make it a door, bring it back, and now it is good, and so on. Then I can go to my boss and say, look what I made, of course, using all these wonderful things the team designed.

I see your frustration and I feel the same.
3d is in a frustrating place right now.
In my case AI would be a NoGo. I'd rather go back to pen and paper instead, or maybe Pen and Tablet.
What I'd miss about AI, is the real time moving through a 3d scene, searching for this one particular camera view and tweaking details, that matter.

and a new beginning...
Like @Luxe Muse, I notice the people who praise AI everywhere and declare that certain skills are now obsolete. You no longer have to learn languages, you no longer have to be able to program, painting, photography or even 3D design - have become obsolete as human skills. This tendency is a strange trait of AI enthusiasts, but it reminds me of the earlier advocates of Bitcoin, blockchain, and other so-called "groundbreaking" innovations.
But @Yurifella raises two points that are also important for people who dont overestimate AI so much. First, DAZ thrives on a constantly renewing community, with new users buying products regularly. For newcomers, DAZ can be quite expensive. After two years of frequent visits to the DAZ shop and using more affordable options in FBX and OBJ formats, you can get by almost without spending much - though then you're no longer a beginner. DAZ should consider this (my keywords: pricing policy and accessible tutorials - another topic). How DAZ handles this will also influence people who are passionate about 3D design.
The part of the community that is truly engaged - so long as money flows - will become smaller (less time available if you have to work elsewhere, no offense intended). This also means fewer new products being introduced. However, for those who remain, this can be an advantage: it encourages a deeper engagement with what is already available, fostering the development of new skills to create something original from existing resources. In other words, it promotes creativity in the best sense of the word. Humans are capable of this, that's where AI fails.
Which brings me to point 2: AI can reproduce, mix, and remix the mixed. But nothing can be done without input. That's why AI chats often quickly sound boring and stupid. That's also why AI graphics make you feel like you've seen them all at some point: because, in a literal sense, you *have* already seen everything that AI can "do."
And that's why AI works so well right now. It fits perfectly with a stagnant culture of reproducing the familiar. Can someone name me an internationally important film of the last 10 years - "Barbenheimer" excluded - that was not a prequel, sequel, or material from the 20th century? Is there a unique fashion trend - except for the "Clean Girl" look, which used to be simply called "colorless" - that defined the 2010s or 2020s? And we all support this standstill boredom when we buy lazily produced products, watch lame film productions, listen to songs with less and less lyric variability. That's what stagnant culture means.
But I'm confident about that. Because there have always been standstills in culture. The best thing about them: They pass by!
Note: This post is created with AI support for interpunction and some polishing. A very useful skill of AI for non-native speakers who want to say something before they've learned enough of the foreign language to avoid confusing native speakers.
Note 2: To be honest, it's nice to create images for other people. But I'm also happy for people who just want "a picture for an RPG character" or a forum avatar or something else, who can now try their luck with AI instead of asking a "3D artist." Because the differences - writing a 3D artist or writing a prompt - are minimal for them. And you can try over and over again without fear of offending anyone (the artist). That can also be liberating.

Fri, Aug 22I am not a native speaker either, and what you are doing is exactly the purpose for which technology exists, such as AI, 3D software, the wheel, and so on. There is no need for apologies or footnotes.
I do not know where I read this: "I want AI to do my laundry, not to write my books." We are simply pointing out that some nihilistic enthusiasts cheer on human replacement or demise gratuitously, thinking that somehow they will come out on top.

Just a FYI, I have done 3D/2D model creation in a professional capacity for years using 3dsmax, AutoCAD and Inventor. I do product design and hold more than one patent. dazstudio was only a pastime that no longer holds much interest for ME, if you feel offended by that feel free lol. Ai is a tool which incidentally is not ( contrary to popular belief) intelligent it only follows programmed parameters albeit often in unexpected ways, but like it or not it isn't going anywhere. If using dazstudio and the like makes you happy that's great carry on. I wouldn't presume to tell anyone not to use it. AND I REPEAT THIS IS A PERSONAL OPINION AND I'M ENTITLED TO IT. Ps I still think there's way too much garbage on all content sites.

And I would also love to make an announcement. I would like to take the time to say here, publicly, that I will no longer be architecting or designing bridges. So, if you like crossing to the other side of a river, learn to swim. I am saying it here in this 3D forum because I know some people make bridges for 3D, so it is kind of almost within context, although I understand that not so much. Yes, bridges are outdated. People need to get fit, and so, they need to learn swimming.
There, for anyone who is interested and was thinking I might ever design or architect a bridge they will need for crossing over a pond.

Fri, Aug 22Oh, and it's my opinion, that you need to swim, very personal opinion, I almost hesitated to let the word out, about my newfound love for swimming and getting fit and in shape.
Personally I find it quite sad that you have given up your hobby to use ai. Another victim of the ELIZA effect.
ai is not free. my water and electricity bill is going up to accommodate the use of ai.
Also just because I'm an evil antagonistic fire starter bully (apparently) I will include a couple parody scenarios.
my hobby is playing pool. I've spent 20 plus years enjoying the game and social scene and even though I'm not the best pool player I enjoy the challenge and reward when I have a good game.
Recently I discovered an app that will play the game for me. i Set the scenario and it renders an entire game all on it's own. It's fantastic as I now have so much free time to do the other hobbies I enjoy. I wonder if there's an app for tennis, go karting, camping or rock climbing.
My other main hobby is fishing. I have enjoyed being a natural environment and catching a nice brown trout to cook on an open fire. Something very special about being in harmony with your environment and taking time out from work.
Recently I discovered an app that simulates the fishing. I drive to a location and launch the app. It plays a little simulation then gives me directions to a shop to buy my fish. . . .
What is the point of ai art? seriously it is not art.. art comes from people emotions and passion.

If you use AI to enhance your 3D content renders.. you have reached the end of your development as an artist and may as well give up. Just saying it out loud.

Sat, Aug 23For real... it feels like studying for a whole year just to cheat at the last exam.
