I never comment in the galleries, but might as well take this opportunity to say that I really enjoy your renders and art style. I'd be doing exactly the same sort of thing if I had the patience to wait for scenes to render, which sadly I don't.
I think they're dark, arty, gritty and pretty damn cool!

Fri, Sep 05aw thx !!
honestly I'll spill a lil secret on my renders if this will help; almost all of my renders are rendered between 40% to 80% as not only it's part of my style but out of hardware necessity (I'm using a shitty 2013 iMac lmao)
don't feel discouraged to cut a render short if you really wanna do it !!

I already do that pretty much every time I render something, unless I'm testing something that specifically requires a lot of samples. It still takes too long to render scenes though (especially indoors). But yeah, one of your images caught my eye, so I had a good butchers through your gallery the other day. You clearly have an artisitic eye for darkness, grit and postwork..

Fri, Sep 05indoor rendering is usually a pain in the ass for me in general, so I just do a workaround with flash lighting. (which is my favorite kind of lighting anyways) I don't normally suggest flash lighting if it doesn't fit a style you prefer or are used to working, but it's usually the easy way of getting a render done quick.
big thx for the compliments, once again !! I've always had this morbid fascination with the dark aspects of life and the surreal based on media and my own life experiences. I never really expect a lot of people to enjoy my works, so a big portion is just making them for myself and whoever bothers to take a look at.
my favorite out of the ones you picked out is Indecline as I was really into the debut album of Godspeed You! Black Emperor when making it and I wanted to make a homage from the album cover.
(I have to update the link in the post description since the song I chose got taken down lol)

I thought I was wrapping up things, but then I read a comment about something not looking right, so I went digging for a little while. That led to me adding two new sets of eye texture maps, because why not, and then completely redoing all the translucency maps to darken the redness of the eyes. Of course, it only took a minute to realize that now I need to redo all the store renders I had already made. Hi, hi, hi. I am not complaining though. I did this to myself.

And thanks i'm doing fine, actually i started watching an anime called My Hero Academia, a friend at work recommended me because there's a character that his hero name is GrapeJuice so i had to see it, lol.

my favorite anime would have to be Gungrave, basically a mob revenge story where the protagonist, Brandon Heat is revived through necrolyzation as Beyond the Grave after being betrayed and killed by his best friend.

I haven't made many renders or models recently, but I'm currently busy with my radio hobby and sold a few things to buy a new radio: the Yaesu FT-991A all-mode, a beast of a radio with many features. It's a fantastic radio for voice communication and offers many digital modes that I can connect to a computer. With this radio, I can reach half the world with the antennas I currently have in my backyard. I started this hobby enthusiastically 30 years ago, and for the past year I've been busy again and expanding considerably.

Radio technology is so cool, even if we know how it works it's kinda crazy to think that we can literally "send a message" through waves and they will be received in another place right? Fri, Sep 05Yes, technology has fascinated me from a young age, especially radio signals (you can see it in most of the 3D models I've made). I've had a few radios for a year now, but I can put them away now because the new one can do everything, plus, when combined with a computer, it offers many more possibilities. I can order the radio on September 20th because I'm still saving up money. Then just wait a few days and I'll have this radio. It's so exciting!

Fri, Sep 05It's indeed a fascinating hobby. A year ago, I bought an RTL-SDR radio, a USB dongle with a built-in radio, and started receiving signals on frequencies where I used to operate as a radio amateur. Then I got the itch to install transmitters and antennas again. Now, with the current transmitter, I've made DX contacts (which depend on the conditions of the magnetic layers in the atmosphere) and have managed to cover a distance of 11,000 km! This has been my longest-distance contact so far. Soon, once I have the new radio, I'll also be able to use a digital mode called FT8, which extends even further than these distances. I've already received New Zealand with the RTL-SDR receiver, so that's promising!

It was that SDR thing that got me back interested in it a few years back, and I totally blame websdr.org for that
Following one of the links there, I came across an online radio receiver that looked so amazing I couldn't help get caught up in it. I wasn't even interested at the time but ended up scanning the world and not going to bed that night. I suppose that FT8 tech, that would be the digital equivalent of SW then?
I'm well out of touch with the new stuff.

Fri, Sep 05I first became aware of websdr.org a few years ago. But I wanted to receive something myself with the necessary antennas, such as an MLA-30 Plus, a loop antenna for 0 to 30 MHz, and a combined UHF/VHF antenna for the higher frequencies. I use SDRSharp software with a bunch of plugins to decode digital signals such as Tetra, DMR, and C4FM. And on the HF bands, I decode SSTV, RTTY, and many more. FT8 is a short digital tone that the software can decipher into a callsign with a short text added. The software recognizes this and automatically provides the country of origin. Even with weak signals, FT8 software can recognize this, and if you try to do this with voice communication, it becomes much more difficult to follow what's being said. I have an interesting link from Wiki here about all the types of signals and applications used across the entire radio spectrum. FT8 and many other digital modes are explained here one by one. https://www.sigidwiki.com/wiki/Signal_Identification_Guide

That's a great link and I've bookmarked it. Trouble is, now every time I see it in my bookmarks, my mind is likely to wander-off onto an online SDR radio site to test it all out:-D
I once heard a radio communication of a woman somewhere in Brazil. Who was stranded because her car had grounded. Apparently it was pitch black because she'd flattened the battery trying to get unstuck. She was at least in communication with someone so I'm sure she's ok. Fascinating stuff. You never know what you're going to find going on, or where!
I've also heard what sounded to me like aliens communicating, and to be honest I don't think it's impossible that it wasn't. Who knows how far an alien species' radio waves could travel if they're strong enough!

You'd probably really love these two then:

You'd need a headphone splitter with the Ether though, so that you can monitor it on one jack, and record it to a portable recorder on the other.

Sat, Sep 06Radio communication is indispensable, especially in a disaster when the internet and electricity are gone. Just in case, I keep a couple of 12-volt batteries at home. That way, I can still communicate with the outside world. I also have a walkie-talkie that's highly versatile. It has a range of 50 km on the mobile antenna, and perhaps even further if I use my home antennas. For the music enthusiasts among us, I've posted a link here where I've compiled my Ambient music. Bloody hell, for a walkie-lakie that's an insane distance when you think about it! I had no idea they could cover anything like that range. I always thought they topped out at around ten miles or something
That's a lot of musical output there mate, and actually, I'm sure I listened to some of them in Bonj's thread. Can't remember exactly, but the last one I heard was accompanied by a fractal animation if I recall. I do like messing around with audio production and composition, but I'm exactly the same with that stuff as I am with 3D, I tend to just mess around with this and that, but never manage to produce a finished product.
Cubase 14 has me drooling (as Cubase often does) and there's nothing I'd like better right now than to buy a quality 88-key keybed (see attached link), MIDI it up to Cubase 14 and knock out some orchestral pieces. I don't do music theory (but hey neither does ABBA, right?) and to be fair it doesn't hinder me and I'm actually quite capable as a composer. It's just a shame I don't have the mind to knuckle-down and actually finish a project. Plus, my living situation isn't exactly suited to owning something as big and heavy as the keybed I drool over all the time!
I'd buy and MIDI this up to Cubase 14 in a flash if I ever thought I could bring myself to complete an orchestral album:

Best MIDI keybed in the world.. She's an absolute beauty. Concert-grade action, the works, but sadly unattainable for me

She's completely made up. They all are. I stay away from using direct references and instead prefer to think of a specific look I've seen, looks that are most often inspired by casual passers by in the street. It sometimes works out and sometimes doesn't, but even when it doesn't come out as expected, it can still lead to a viable looking character sometimes.
Thanks again for the kind words!

While the RenderHub forums currenly appear to be under siege where one AI thread after the another is propped up by the same zero-ethic, zero-talent numb-skull. It got me to thinking how stark a contrast there is between people like that, and people like yourself, those wholesome enough to even start a thread titled "How was your day?"
Well, frustrating would be the best word to describe my day, mainly due to cowboy contractors, but how was your day, mate?

Tue, Oct 14Hey buddy, oh thank you so much! Well, I don't really know why, but I've seen a lot of heated discussions here on the forums in the last few months, some of them quite hateful towards some of our artists and even towards the Renderhub admins.
It wasn't like that before, so I genuinely got worried about how this can affect people, that's why I decided to open this thread, I'm glad you like it
About your day, I'm really sorry! I hope everything gets resolved as quickly as possible, preferably today. Sending you good vibes!
About my day, it's ok so far, I'm finishing my entry for the Halloween contest, are you going to participate?

I hear you, but unfortunately RenderHub bring a lot of it on themselves. AI-Enhanced images should be strictly resticted to AI-Enhanced galleries and not allowed to leak into any traditional gallery. To not enforce such a thing feels disrespectful to those who do their work traditionally, so I'm not surprised it causes non-stop verbal battles..
That said, another arrogant comment posted by one of the zero-ethic crowd just now has given me a great idea. I'll post it in the other thread though, not here.
My frustration today with the contractors, it's no sweat really, easily solved, it's just that the incompetence has gone on for years now so I'm going to have to 'put my foot down' as the saying goes!
Glad tp hear your day was ok. and best of luck with the Halloween contest mate. I'll be checking all of those out as the deadline closes in, but I'll not be entering even though it's right up my street really! I've always been the same though. I never enter gallery competitions, ever. I never leave comments or even likes, nevermind enter competitions

Tue, Oct 14@comixiant i see. I'm not following the Ai discussions but personally, I think if the website will allow AI now they could easily fix this problem opening an AI only section, i believe that would be good for everyone, and maybe like Deviantart, people could select an option: "Show Ai" or not. I believe that would fix it. About the contractors I'm sorry, at least it was something easy to fix
and thanks, i will try to do my best!

They already have that here but are not enforcing it fully, that's the problem
They have a dedicated AI gallery to play in on here, yet are stil allowed to pollute the traditional galleries with AI-Enhanced images. There shold be no ecuses, no exceptions, no ifsm, not buts., but that's not that they're doing.
Anyway, I only mentioned AI in this thread to show in contrast., so best to leave it for the other threads otherwise this will likely turn into another storm, and the last tbing I want is for your thread to get hammered with it as well.

so far, I've been getting back into using Reshade (which is basically a post-processing injector for games and video software) with Garry's Mod and I've been having a blast trying out different effects in-game to achieve a more gritty and grungy digital look. I've been using Reshade since 2016 for the games I've played over the years, but I really believe this program has so much potential for art purposes (especially for sandbox games like Garry's Mod.)
Reshade I don't think its possible to use in Daz Studio since the actual rendering is external for the post-processing effects to work, which I don't mind really cause I just use rendering as a tool and then do my post-work in Photoshop (eventually more with GIMP once I get the hang of it.)

Garry's Mod, that's something like Second Life if I recall. I've used (and to be honest really miss using) Second Life, so I'll have to check it out again some time soon. but I've never used Garry's Mod.

Garry's Mod is basically like the biggest mod for Half Life 2 which has been a standalone since 2006. lotta people use it for building things, making artworks, or just roleplay and do a bunch of stuff. it's super fun, been playing it since I was like 14 lol.
@GrapeJuice3D
I could actually go for it, although Garry's Mod doesn't have like a wireframe thingy or whatever but I can always show the scene process in-game and my Reshade configuration setups.
my 2nd entry would be a lot more like my usual Daz stuff but possibly a bit more grotesque lol

Wed, Oct 15the artwork page for Garry's Mod on Steam has a bunch of talented artists on there that use it to make art; mostly military stuff, shitposts, fan art, and TF2 posters. great community behind it !!
I hardly played Garry's Mod for the RP servers since I used to just do lighthearted trolling and shit like that when I was a teen, but I did have a blast playing Trouble In Terrorist Town, though.
but yeah, I'm still surprised Renderhub included the game as software to be used. hopefully I still won't be the only person uploading gmod artwork on here lmaoo

Thanks for the insight and it does sound interesting, I even took a look at the Wikipedia article about it.
I'm not a gamer personally which is why I wasn't fully aware of it. I'd heard of it plenty of times though. I'm really only into GTA becasue of the movie making functionality it has, I've never played it as a game though, never, not even once!
I watch a heck of a lot of GTA movies, and with GTA VI arriving soon, it makes me drool at what goodies they might add to the Rockstar Editor. I did read somewhere that a lot of the animation is now AI based, but that they trained it on their own actors etc.
Will be interesting to see, that's for sure, and I cannot wait for torrential amounts of new GTA movies to watch. I really love the GTA movie making crowd, watching what they make with it and that goes even for the amateur stuff. They really do use the open world of GTA as a Hollywood film set.
So I understand your fascination and love for Garry's Mod., and since it can also be used as a movie making tool, I will definitely check it out some time. Cheers!

There's a heck of a lot of stuff you have to install to get GTA V to do what you want. The biggest show-stopper for me was that there was no way to customise the animations 100%, but that all changed a year or so back. Can't remember the name of it off-hand, but there's now a mod that allows full control over the animation of characters by allowing to to modify them in Blender, and converting them.
At the time I was using it I only had GTA V and it was the lack of that ability that bugged me, so it's very cool we are now able to do that. Also, while I don't have GTA IV, it's one I intend to buy because they've always had the ability to edit animation in that one.. So in a nutshell, both GTA IV and V now have custom animation mods and can be used as movie making animation tools.
The new one, GTA VI that is just around the corner, that s going to be very interesting because I suspect we'll be directing the NPCs, by telling them what to do as one would do with a real actor (due to the custom AI system it is using).
Apparently, every single NPC wll have its own life, personality, and will do the sort of things that people will do in real life. So I reckon that eventually, this will mean the Rockstar Editor will give you the ability to override their own decision making, and direct them as a director would on a film set.
Man I really hope so, cause I don't know if you've seen the first two trailers but man it looks absolutely incredible, so just imagine having that open world all to yourself as a your film set, and the ability to direct the characters to do as you say

Fri, Oct 17Glad to see you're excited for the new game buddy!, Now, a personal rant.. can you believe I don't get hype for big companies's games anymore? I know that Rockstar normally delivers what they promised, but after a lot of games these last years don't delivering at least half what they promised ( like Cyberpunk 2077 in the launch) I'm totally skeptical when they say their games are gonna "change the industry forever". GTA is not actually my kind of game and I probably won't play\purchase it, but today I'm kinda of: I will believe when I see it. ^^" Sorry man, I'm not trying to throw a bucket of cold water in your hype, but I'm seeing myself more and more playing old school games these days because I feel the new generation games don't have "soul" anymore. Can you believe I've been playing old school games for some months now and I'm having kinda fun? I miss that

COMIXIANT
I'm admittedy very hyped for this one, Jiucy, but I'm not a gamer at all. GTA only caught my eye because I discovered people were making movies with it using various modding tools. To be fair to Rockstar Games, they're the only ones I'm aware of who give the game a ovie editro and not only permittred, but even gave their blessng to those who make movies with it using mods.
So for me, I see it purely as a tool for fleshing-out ideas for actual indie movies.
I very much dount there will be any movie making finctinality in GTA VI when it launches, but that it will be added a year or so later. I canlt see them implementing an AI-asisited Rockstar Editor until it's matured a fair bit. But yeah, man, that;s going to be quite something if/when it happens and I feel confident it will because GTA movies are a huge part of the GTA scene. Movies made in even the current versions can sometimed accumiulate hundreds of thousands of views in a fairly short time if you're good cinematography etc.
Cyberpuk 2077, I was so looking forward to that one when it was first announced, stunning open world, but it doesn't have any form of movie-making functionality, and as a result, the community around Cyberpunk 2077 is pretty much non-existent in comparison to that of the GTA franchise. I don't think people realise just how much the movie making scene around GTA helps to keep it all nicely amalgamated in an indirect way. I wouldn't be surprised if this is why, in the end, Rockstar Games give the pracitce their blessing as long as you don't use your movie mods online.
I agree about the older, more simple games, and I really miss my Atari 2600, Commodore 64 and Commodore Amiga which in those days, I actually did use to game on. Both the Commodore 64 and Amiga have returned by the way, with the Amiga being produced by non official company, while the C64 is being produced by the official new owners of Commodore.

Sat, Oct 18Thanks for the video buddy, it was very fun and some phrases the guys said where prety funny lol! Oh but don't get me wrong, I don't hope I'm right, actually I sincerely hope that I'm wrong and that GTA VI becomes a great success, a lot of people still have a little bit of "prejudice" when the subject is gaming, I hope Rockstar helps to change that. I remember I got really happy when GTA got in the Guinness Book and all, they made history. I'm probably living a time in my life that I expect less from things so that's why I said that lol. About buying, I will probably keep tying my models in the release day instead of playing lol, unfortunately here in my country if the projections are right, GTA VI will be the same price as a month of my groceries

Gotta be honest mate, I've no idea how much they intend to charge for GTA VI, and we won't even see PC release for at least a year after the console release, so for us PC users the price could rise even further before we get to buy. I can't even remember how much I paid for GTA V, but if it's around 60 then that would be around two to three weeks worth of groceries for me currently, so I do feel your pain mate!
The UK isn't third-world quite yet, but I reckon it's not far off and is hurtling towards becoming so at light-speed

Just search for "Blender/Sollumz" stuff like that and you'll find a whole bunch of tutorials on it.
Great mod, very powerful.

A few months back there was a YouTube ad that featured sly selling penis performance pills or something like that.
I thought, man, why would someone so famous with all that cash lower themselves by making such ads? Then i realised of course, it must be AI, and it does make me wonder if he sued the living daylight out of them, and I really hope he did.
I like Stallone. There's not many people I personally see as being worthy of the title "Movie Star", but Stallone absoluely is one of them. That stuff I mentioned earlier, I just got curious and searched about it on DuckDuckGo which gave this as top answer:
QUOTE:
"The YouTube ads featuring Sylvester Stallone promoting erectile dysfunction supplements are not legitimate; they use deepfake technology to create misleading content. These ads are part of a fraudulent scheme and do not represent real endorsements by Stallone."
For real, I honestly thought it was him when I first saw it, which is really saying something considering I'm very aware of AI, so I can only imagine how much damage it must be doing to his hard-earned reputation in the eyes of those who believe it to be real.

People are going to lose so much to AI its not even funny. Im preparing for the civil unrest thats going to come with it. Ive been in machining for a long time. Trust me. As soon as these people get fired. Your world is going to change.

Mon, Oct 20This type of deepfake is not new. For several years now, a good number of advertisements on the pages of French websites have used famous people to sell ineffective products. Famous people are often presenters of game shows or news programs.

What really amazed me is they had the Stallone ad up for quite some time. I saw it multiple times across multiple days before it was finally removed, so you have to wonder the levels of corruption at play for it to stay up that long. Stallone has to be one of the most famous movie stars in the world, so it's not as if they woudn't have known it wasn't him.
But I have a genuis idea, let's all pay Google back by screwing-up their algorithm. Let's make them think you're rich by watching his video featuring a five million dollar Patek Philippe watch while showing you his latest watches up for auction (he collects expensive watches).
Let's turn Google's penis pill and miraculous wrinkle cream ads into luxury yacht and Rolex ads instead:
