Just curious if others have noticed, or if I have a problem on my end I'm going to have to figure out and fix.

I was able to log in and browse with no problems. I haven't bothered with their forums in decades and can't comment on whether or not that's working. I bought everything in my wishlist just now in case the site dies. Rendo CAN'T be doing well.

Just followed Anabran's link and it worked no problem.
As a side note, it's very sad to see Poser and Renderosity in such a hopeless state. If I had surpless cash behind me, I'd offer to buy them out. It's dead easy to turn around the fortunes of Poser and Renderosity, but it was clear from the first release they put out. that they're going about it in completely the opposite direction to that in which they should be.
Apologies for the OT, but it has to be said. It's quite painful to watch even with no money invested in the business.

Fri, Sep 05It's funny/interesting/odd that I've often had the same thought except that my dreams go BIG.
I somehow come into the fortunes of Jeff Bezos and hire a pile of experienced programmers to write a Poser/Studio/Blender/MD clone that combined the best of everything, and make it free. I'd allow creators to sell on 'my' site and keep all the sales money. There'd be one, and only one generation of figure and if it needed to be upgraded or replaced, there'd be a free tool to also update all clothes, morphs and accessories.
I'd commission a comprehensive set of tutorials on making stuff for the platform.
Then I'd sit back and laugh myself silly while Daz and Poser went under.

I'm asking about the marketplace itself and the produts. I see a big 500, with a note: something went wrong.

It could be that your browser is rebuilding the page from your browser cache. Disconnect from the internet, clear your browser cache, reconnect and see if it changes anything. I just did exactly that and still get the following as shown in the attached screenshot:

Such a behemoth application would not Kill Poser or Daz simply by existing even as freeware.
This is due the the phenomenon
of entrenched habits and the ecosystem comfort bubble that keeps user demographics stuck on one software for life.
Think about it.
there are literally Zero technical , software feature set, reasons for anyone to buy Poser in world where Daz studio/Genesis exists for free.
In fact cost is not even the issue as I would guess that Most
die hard users would pirate Poser before they would switch to Daz studio to stay inside that ecosystem comfort bubble.
Alternatively ,Look at the number of Daz studio users willing to start paying monthly rent to get access to something like "Mesh Grabber" when we have a whole host of sculpting tools that can do infinitely better in Blender on a Daz figure imported with the free diffeomorphic addon which retains Daz JCMs
And PLEASE, Don't even get me started on the thousands of dollars Reallusion users will pay for the core Apps (Iclone and now CC5) and plugins.
When I can do everything Iclone can do with Blender, and about $150 dollars worth of Addons that come with lifetime free updates
Toss in a $300 Dollar license for Cascadure Pro ( as I have done recently )
and Now you are crushing Iclone and even dunking on Autodesk Maya in many aspects of humanoid Character animation
for less than the cost of Iclone by itself.

Fri, Sep 05Hmmmm......you've just taken the fun out of one of my favourite daydreams.
How about if it includes a super easy-peasy way to migrate EVERYTHING from your Poser or Studio install?
.....and includes a stinkload of free items....good free items.

Someone there mentioned a problem with bots, and since a 500 error typically indicates an internal server issue, I suspected that someone tried to ban the bots and made a mistake. This would fit the current situation, where you can use the site as a logged-in user without problems - or experience 500 errors when not logged in.

Quote:How about if it includes a super easy-peasy way to migrate EVERYTHING from your Poser….
Daz took extraordinary steps to ease the migration from Poser to Daz studio
Full support for importing ALL of the legacy poser formats (Pz3,Pz2 PP2, MC6)
Yet Poser users remained entrenched in their little sandboxes insisted that Daz should just make "poser versions" of the genesis 1-2 models
When it became clear this would never happen there was a third party hack to get a severely crippled genesis 3 into poser for a while.
Once that project was abandoned and G8 hit the scene, the half of the poser faithful
hung their hopes on various crowd sourced third party white girl saviour figures
that got little to Zero support
( project E etc.)
while the other half clung desperately to the last Poser native figures from Daz Mike & Vicky 4.
Laffeme & La homme have done little to change the status quo as the reality is that ,since the days of Poser3-4 ,the various owners of Poser allowed Zygote/Daz to become the single point of failure in their business model and failed to recover when Daz abandoned their ecosystem.

Sat, Sep 06I think that those few desperately clinging to poser may be a different case than the mainstream user. It's become like a religion to them and they don't see (or accept) it's failings. I started with Poser when it first came out and even bought two releases. It was horribly unstable and the Kai's Power Goo interface quickly became dated and clumsy as the GUIs of other graphic programs rapidly evolved. I screamed bitterly at whoever owned it at the time to fix the legendary instability but despite endless promises, they never did. When Studio came out I grabbed it and never looked back.
I've downloaded the newer versions of Poser a couple of times to try it out and it's still crap.
I fondly remember Erogenesis and his project E. I was in that 'naughty' forum for years and we had some great chats. I sometimes wonder what he's doing these days.

This is very true.^^
The 3D/CG landscape of 2025 is alot different than the golden years of Poser or even Daz.
It's more a game of competing ecosystems than competing character creation programs because All of the major 3D programs and major game engines have their own prefab character options now or third party sources in READY TO USE game optimized formats.
Daz has found this out after nearly two failed decades of trying to court the game dev industry.
and Reallusion has yet to read the room as they are still trying to convince UE5 users that they should ignore the free native Metahumans and spend $500 on Character creator 5 with crash prone plugins instead.

Sat, Sep 06I don't play games anymore and was wondering if these other game-centric ecosystems have the amount and breadth of clothing and accessories that Daz offers?
If not, is it possible (even easy) to port the clothes over to any of these other systems?

They don't have to
just spend a few minutes looking at any random twitch streamers game play video on you tube.
Sure you need variety in the environments because of level progression, but most choose a skin at the beginning and wear it for the duration of the game play.
it's all about continuous emersion.
And for the game devs they have the unreal unity and Godot markets selling game optimized content that
just downloads and becomes available in game.
Why putz around in Daz studio or Iclone/CC5 and hope their "bridge plugin" is up to date.??
And on the animated film side you have only really have Blender or Maya
I use both apps and I can tell you that the culture in those communities is
model and rig your own first
and even you need a prefab Blender has multiple native options both paid

My brain doesn't work well with shortcuts. I DO like to work with a mouse and to click on things.
So, as powerful as Blender et.al. might be, they were never an option.
Studio was way too limited in the beginning. (I even bought the PRO Suite once to get access to their rigging tools, only to be stabbed in the back by DAZ shortly after)
Poser soon added weightmapping and perfected the morphbrush, two tools I totally rely on daily.
(All my figures are completely re-rigged and heavily re-sculpted.)
Poser's open text file architecture also allows even extreme modifications, easily. No feature is "hidden behind a paywall" or made exclusive to "publishd artists".
This gives me TOTAL CONTROL over both bought assets as well as anything I created for myself, and I very much like that.
(I was really looking forward to the new version of DAZ' Mesh Grabber/Geometry Sculptor, only to find that it is now exclusive to Premium Members.)
So, yes, Poser isn't free, but it has BETTER rigging tools as well as built in sculpting tools that are 100% WYSIWYG and are completely adequate for my needs.
Yeah, both Poser and Studio are doomed due to AI.Studio is a walking corpse while Poser is on life support already for about a decade. I'm completely aware of that.
But there is still enough "good tech" left, to keep a certain clientel amused. I actually LIKE the "efficient-but-decidedly-not-photorealistic" Poser esthetic I developed after 25yrs of practice.Yes, it's definitely more Bob Ross than Da Vinci, but it makes me happy.
Poser 12 and 13 sadly are complete sh*te now with their focus on Superfly and nothing else. And of course it wouldn't hurt if they'd stop letting amateurs create their figures who wouldn't recognize a well designed mesh topology if it would bite them in the a**, nor are able to sculpt an attractive, someway realistic looking human if their life depended on it.
I'm sure there is a special place in hell for all the people involved in the creation of LaFemme.
So, well, I guess I will "Poser on" as long as I can install my copy of Poser 11 on a Windows machine and my eyes can find the proper button to click on.

Sun, Sep 07I tried to make clothes for posing,
I gave up. It was too long and involved too many steps, making the equivalent of Daz's Utility Transfer for character rigging complex.
It's a shame I'm losing Poser users

LaFemme was created by a single Artist called "Blackhearted"
He released it Free as an act of pure spite against "Erogenesis" the creator of
the repeatedly delayed and over hyped " Project E."
This is because Renderosity
(in their desperation for a Daz Vicky alternative),
allowed that HIDEOUS "Project E" to be promoted in the forums even though it was sold on an offsite competing store (Cgbytes)
Renderosity took the easy route and adopted Lafemme as the default poser female, and you know the rest.

(Boy, has this thread drifted).
Maybe that's the biggest problem with Rendo, too many egos getting in the way of sound business decisions?
I was an active member of that hardcore forum where 'Ero' was a prolific poster. His comics where brilliant and Project E worked well for him, but he was only one person. I feel that he lost interest after emigrating from South Africa to the UK.
And @Possette, I'm still mostly using good old Vicky Fourpointtwoplusplus. Her massive wardrobe and pile of expressions, poses and accessories hasn't been equalled by all the Genesis bimbos combined.

@Anabran: Yep, I heared that.
And Gabriel is quite the character.
He knows how to sculpt muscle detail, but that's about it.
I never found the bodies nor the faces he sculpted very appealing, but maybe that's just me.
But LaFemmes' (What a pretentious name, BTW) mesh topology is complete rubbish.
And releasing the free version with THAT face was like intentionally sabotaging Poser.
Poser needed GOOD JEANS and not a pug faced alien of questionable ethnic background.
I would have loved beautiful ethnic character morphs to go along with her to save me the time to sculpt them myself, but we all know that the "Leading Lady" needs to be lily white and conventionally beautiful to drive the sales in this buisiness.
LF Pro tried to fix that, but she, too, didn't look even remotely as appealing as any of the Vickys.
But the problem was the topology and rigging. If you don't have a solid foundation, everything else will fail.
And shouting down anyone that tries to give an honest accessment of the problems, isn't very helpful, either.
Ah well, I deleted any trace of her from my runtime long ago.
@Bobb:
Well, I guess V4 is as inevitable as Thanos.
I'm not a big fan of default V4's magnet-infested cr2 or her looks, but especially the 17K LOD version of her responds quite well to Poser weightmapping, and the mesh overall is very robust and flexible.
I think M2 and Stephanie 1 have the best muscle topology ever, but my favorite is a mesh I created by putting V3RR's head on V3's body.
This hybrid reduces overall polycount by a lot, yet leaves me with enough "meat" to do very detailed body sculpts. This is more efficient IMO than using HD sculpting on a very low-rez mesh like the various Genesisses. (How's the effing plural of Genesis? Genesi?)
But, yes, there's no way around V4 (And M4's) colossal amount of wardrobe, so I even modified other meshes to natively wear their clothing without the need for conversion.
And as I said, my Poser weightmapped 17K and 4K versions of V4 and M4 are a delight to work with and I use them quite often.
But I actually even have a fully poserized version of Genesis 1.
While V5 wasn't much to look at, there were a few nice toon and monster morphs released for it, that I like.
So, yeah, while Poser is commercially completely dead, I still like to play with it's decaying corpse, I guess.

I'm speculating that they had a massive self-congratulatory party on Friday or Saturday and while Drunk, someone sat on the 'We're closed' switch.

I know Renderosity has been getting a lot of flack lately, but nevertheless I'm super-pleased to see the website functioning again, and that they're still around. It would be a very sad day if they went bust!
For me personally, Renderosity was the place to be back in Poser's heyday, and in my opinion it's dead easy to turn-around Poser's decline. I find it hard to believe they're not aware of how to do that, but either they aren't aware, or there's some other reason for not putting it into action.

Mon, Sep 08I keep saying that the problem is developer ego.
There's a small core of hysterically loyal users and a few more who run it, and like staunch religious zealots they will not change or see how they're screwing the platform. They're convinced that everybody else is wrong and stupid.
They're completely delusional. If you've ever talked to a flat earther you'll get the idea.
There's a few creators that I buy from but they're creating for G8 and/or making figure agnostic accessories. Two have their own site and I buy from those.

@COMIXANT: I'm intrigued now. Could you please elaborate?
I can only think of:
a) 100% Genesis compatibility
or
b) A figure that would both esthetically as well as technically surpass G9.
(Which would be no problem if you really make full use of Poser's rigging capability)
But both options, even IF fully implemented against the current hostile Poser "Zeitgeist", seem to me "Too Little, Too Late".
So, I'm curious, what you think could save Poser from its impending doom?
Thanks.

As much as I'd love to elaborate, I'm not prepared to do that other than directly with Renderosity themsleves.
Needless to say that if I had command of Renderosity and Poser, I could turn-around the fortunes of both so damn fast that the proverbial feet wouldn't touch the proverbial ground.

As much as I have criticized Poser
and it's various owners I have to acknowledge that on some level they are at least being realistic about. " staying in their lane."
Sure it is a decrepid and vestigial "lane" but they ,long ago, abandoned the various "poser fusion" plugins to export Poser content to the Major 3DCCs and the so called "Poser game dev" version as well.
Ironically Posers last few owners seemed to grasp ,years ago , what Daz (and sadly Reallusion) are failing to realize today.
There is no actual market growth for your figures and content outside of your existing user base /ecosystem.
I am not sure there ever was.
Fixing or saving, "modernizing" poser will only benefit the existing Poser loyalists and many of them are unapologetic luddites who seem to hate any changes after Poser 8 or so.
Why should renderosity invest money in updating Poser??
No one not already "bought in" will care .

There is nothing Poser could do at this point that would make me, an avid 3D artist, use it, EXCEPT offering it for FREE. I'm not even a dedicated DAZ Studio user anymore, but it was easy to dump Poser for DS 2-3 at the time. ATleast DS evolved and became something more over time. My time is better spent immersing in the current generations of game engines that offer so much options and versatility.
Poser unfortunately has been stagnant for a while, and yes it is the decision makers at Renderosity who have consistently been stuck in a time warp, something that we have pointed out and mentioned in a few forum threads aorund here, showcasing their bad decision making in the past, in the present, and we can expect going forward in the future.

Quote:I can only think of: a) 100% Genesis compatibility
Which would yet again make an EXTERNAL figure that Renderosity does not OWN or control ,the single point of failure in poser business model
One Decimal point version "update" could break the genesis compatibilty.
Even Reallusion had the wisdom to stop depending on imported Daz figures and created their own native figure ecosystem
Quote: b) A figure that would both esthetically as well as technically surpass G9.
(Which would be no problem if you really make full use of Poser's rigging capability)
That would not bring back the Daz content vendors who fled years ago.
why would they learn a new content creation pipeline for an old software for which they have to pay to get started.?
The same is true for new content creators.
Also the existing loyalists would demand backwards compatibility with their legacy content libraries.
An unlikely scenario IMHO
