123Remember dForce's predecessor: OptiTex Dynamic Clothes?
So you can discover or rediscover this tool, I made this dress.

Fri, Sep 12Thanks for reminding me that dynamic clothing is still relevant. In some situations, you can quickly get a result that's pretty close to reality. I feel like I prefer dynamic clothing to dForce!

Fri, Sep 12I remember my first steps with Optitex in Studio and how much fun that was.
But it was just for simulations, I never saw any possibility to create clothing with it.
Or have I missed something there?

I find it way more stable than D-force.
I tried make the Dynamic cloth control " explode " on purpose by creating an animation with a wide hip female walking with her hands intentionally passing through her hips and dress.
she tore her dress apart, but the simulation finished with no crashing.
so we can theoretically create some cool cloth ripping effects with this as well.

This is a cloth simulation system
that uses a proprietary closed form called "Dyncloth"
that Optitex refused to share with the Daz PAs back then.
Read about how that closed format was defeated here:

Fri, Sep 12Thanks

I see that the Optitex program is still available. No price is given so I'm assuming it's crazy expensive and likely needs an online connection so that they can continue to gouge customers.
It's too bad there's not a free version.......

Wed, Sep 17When I first heard about Optitex (a few years back), I almost fell off my chair when I saw the price: something with a lot of zeros (from memory). That seems to have changed now...

They seem to consider themselves
an elite provider of bespoke,Boutique
clothing design solutions for the clothing industry.
Perhaps they were at one point
But today I think Marvelous designer/CLO
is just as viable a solution on that level and apparently coming to linux

Quote:Their site is just a pile of marketing hype and bullshit.
To me, anyone who says
"contact us for a Demo"
is just trying to manipulate into thinking they are more special than they actually are.
it is a very old mind trick to isolate you from looking at other options
while making them seem more brilliant.
It's like the people who say they have some grand plan to fix Daz or Poser
but will only discuss it "in private" with the owners of those apps.
