Tue, Apr 11, 2023Sorry, but it is not available yet. The owner is getting a custom scene made up for this contest.
We hope to have it ready for download soon. It will be posted on the contest page and I'll post an update here.
Sorry for the confusion.

Mon, Apr 17, 2023@Causam3D - LOL. Yeah, I will be talking to him about that today.

"Although not required, we highly encourage you to submit your creations for sale in the marketplace."
I was wondering, if there are any good workflows to get a clothing asset - production ready for sale in the marketplace.
If one could align the initial creation process with some good DAZ practices / insights at the beginning, it would save a lot of time later trying to redo the steps to make it Daz compliant.
Thanks.

Sun, Apr 16, 2023If they don't say nothing about the software... this isn't a DAZ contest and you can use other 3D sofware to create the outfit and render the final result. The rules don't say nothing about the sofware and say this...
"Your outfit can appear on any character of your choosing, but you must use this free runway scene"
Maybe the objetive of this contest is to add more DAZ content in the market, but if the contest is only for DAZ it should be clarified in the rules. At the moment i understand that isn't so.

Mon, Apr 17, 2023@olAna - I sure wish there were! I'll post a few links that I have saved.
I haven't watched these videos for quite some time, so I can't say how relevant they might be now.
(If anyone else has any, please share)
I have also heard some good things about this (paid) tutorial series:
https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-content-creation-mastery-bundle
And FYI - A product wouldn't need to be specifically for Daz Studio. There are vendors that sell clothing as 3D models like this:
https://www.renderhub.com/max-dias
https://www.renderhub.com/rumend/military-outfit

Mon, Apr 17, 2023@Muwawya - I don't think they were asking to do anything that would be unfair or against the rules.
From what I understand, they were asking if there are any good workflows to get clothing ready to use in Daz.
As in - should someone be thinking a certain way while designing the clothing, so it's easier to get it ready for Daz in the end...

Mon, Apr 17, 2023@vixcosmen - You are correct.
"...this isn't a DAZ contest and you can use other 3D software to create the outfit and render the final result..."
It would be great if this contest could be a spark to generate more content for the marketplace. Daz, or otherwise.
But it's not required to make a "functional" garment for sale whatsoever.

The video series on dForce is rigorous and you learn a lot.
As you said, I was looking for some guidelines/checklist like when you submit an app to the any of the leading mobile app stores.
After a quick scanning of the SW landscape on creating cloths digitally, I have chosen CLO 3d.
They do offer a fully featured 30-day trail. I did chat with them to confirm that there are no hidden export/feature restrictions in their trial.
A little over a month is too little time for a newbie fully grasp the clothing concepts.
and create a garment. Any start is good, I guess.
The IDE has been easy so far in my HelloWorld stage.
Hope this help anyone who is totally new to this space.

In that case, you might want to consider Marvelous Designer.
Unless things have changed, CLO is intended for users who want to make real life garments.
Marvelous Designer has features geared toward 3D artists.
As of three months ago, CLO even confirmed that.

Sun, Apr 30, 2023I'm not sure what's up with the missing stage. I asked the owner the other day if it was coming, and he said it was.
You could certainly post some WIP images, or anything you have so far - and post the final render when the stage is available.
It sure would be nice to see some action there.
I think the cart was put before the horse with the launch of this contest. Sorry for the confusion.

Sun, Apr 30, 2023Alright, then I will work on some promo pictures. I am planning to share some tips on importing clothes into Daz3d too.
Hi Foxy. Just an idea if I may. If the runway prop isn't going to happen very soon, could we perhaps at least have a proxy version of it for now? It can be a low poly unfinished version of it, a decimated mesh or even just a bunch of primitive shapes (cubes, etc) that represents the shape and layout of the runway stage. Then people can at least start setting up their scenes; work out their light rigs, shot angles and whatnot. It would help save time. Thanks.

Hello! If it's a Space Marine armor, will that also be eligible for the competition?) Doesn't matter what it is? The main thing is that the character will be able to put it on? Or should it be civilian clothes? Closer to modern times or even in the fantasy style of the Middle Ages?

Tue, May 16, 2023Yes - absolutely, you can do that.
You can include as many WIP images and "functionality examples" as you want in your contest entry thread.
I am sorry to say that I don't have any new news on the runway scene. I have been told "soon" and then that it would be ready last week.
What I *can* say is don't let that hold you back from releasing the product into your store.
There is no requirement that says you need to wait until the contest is done before offering your creation for sale.
Just make sure you first create a contest entry thread with at least some WIP images to prove this requirement in the rules:
"Entries must be new original work specifically made for this contest..."

Perhaps a little late to be asking these questions at this stage in the game. I thought I understood the contest rules but now I'm a bit unsure about a couple of things.
I'm assuming multiple pieces of clothing (outerwear, innerwear, pants, shoes, head cover, etc) are okay as one entry. Do they have to be a matching set in order for them to be eligible as one entry or can they be a mix and match of different styles as long as they look good?
Or will judging be done on individual pieces of clothing? Looking at the WIPs of other contestants they seem to be indeed mostly one-piece/overall type outfit.
I guess what I'm trying to ask in a nutshell is, what exactly is going to be judged? The overall style and look of the outfit (as a whole, if composed of multiple pieces), uniform design consistency across multiple pieces, or the details and design complexity of an individual piece of clothing (i.e. one clothing piece = one contest entry)?
Thanks.

Tue, May 23, 2023Hi there. The garment does not need to be one piece. It can be an outfit made of several parts.
"...mix and match of different styles as long as they look good..." is no problem at all.
You do not need a separate entry for each piece, and would probably not be recommended.

Hello.
Will you filter out contest entries that belong to an entrant, but the clothes were created a few years ago? At least one of the works already fits this description.
I would like more information for the participants.
If they misunderstood the rules of the contest, they were wasting their time.

Hi Foxy, would it be all right to alter the runway geometry a little bit? I want to widen the runway so there's ample space to accomodate 2 models standing side by side. I'm not planning to do anything extreme to the set such that it's unrecognizable from the original set.
I'm assuming it's fine; the rules say retexturing scene elements is fine but it doesn't explicitly say so about altering their shapes, adding my own scene elements and whatnot. I thought it's better to ask when in doubt.

For your purposes, to accommodate two characters standing side-by-side, I don't see a problem with that at all.
And yes, you can add extra elements to the scene. Someone asked a similar question earlier, and this is the response I got from the owner:
"You are allowed to use additional objects in the scene.
If those objects are extra accessories like shoes or jewelry, and not part of your submission, you should specify that."
Thanks for participating in the contest!

I do not understand that so many entries are submitted from products that already exist! If I have understood correctly, only contributions may be submitted that have not yet been published and have been created specifically for the contest.

Mon, Jul 24, 2023You understand correctly. Back on May 23, @Tark_Ark inquired about this. Here was my answer:
The judges' selections are verified to make sure the entries adhere to the rules.
Entries that do not adhere to the rules will not qualify to win.
This is the rule you're talking about, and will be enforced:
"Entries must be new original work specifically made for this contest..."

Mon, Jul 24, 2023I'm glad you clarified that ... I was afraid I had misunderstood, thank you very much!
Hello, just one question, the render has to be only a cat walk or it based on fabrics?

Sun, Jul 30, 2023Thank you for responding, I'm sorry, I should have reread my message. I wanted to know if the work should be based solely on a fashion show with a runway walk, or if it is focused on creating clothing

Hello Foxy. Why does Renderhub change the original colors of my images in the gallery, in the contest entry, and even on the Renderhub Artstation page?

Tue, Aug 15, 2023Unfortunately, the announcement of the winners will be delayed.
It turns out some of the finalists had to be disqualified because they didn't follow the rules.
The owner should be hearing back from the judges with the final results soon.
Sorry for the delay.

Hello Foxy. I would like to drown, which rendering variant was judged from my images? There were problems with changing colors when the RenderHub compressed the image. Later, I added sources that retained the colors.

Wed, Aug 16, 2023It is my understanding that the judges would be looking at your entire thread as your submission.
I think that's the only way the Judging Criteria can be determined, per the rules of the contest.
"Submissions will be judged on creativity, originality and technical ability. Judging will also take into consideration the difficulty and complexity of the overall execution of work."

Wed, Aug 16, 2023What isn't clear from the rules is whether only the main submission image needs to contain the runway, or whether all renders submitted have to include the runway. In my case I used the runway on the main submission image followed by the capture of the scene showing it's my work. After that, for context on the clothing itself I added product shots. That seemed to me to be in line with the rules. Maybe you could clarify.

Wed, Aug 16, 2023The requirement was that at least 1 picture must be taken with the catwalk ... it also applies that there may not be any products that are and were published before the end of the contest...
I'm more surprised that we the 16.08. and the result is not certain ... it seems really complex which presents itself as a problem!

Yes, that is OK. Someone already asked this somewhere, but I'm not sure where.
When I asked the owner for clarification, he said at least one image must be using the provided runway scene.
Any additional detail shots, beauty renders, etc. - it's fine to *not* be using the runway scene.

Wed, Aug 16, 2023@mbit - Just a slight clarification in response to what you wrote:
"...there may not be any products that are and were published before the end of the contest..."
It is perfectly fine if someone published their product *while the contest was still going on*.
Nobody was required to wait until the end of the contest before publishing their product.
However, their contest entry thread must have been started before the product was published.
That complies with this part of the rules:
"...Entries must be new original work specifically made for this contest..."
@Causam3D - I believe that addresses your concern:
"...Nothing published before the END of the contest?..."

Wed, Aug 16, 2023So it sounds like we're ok over here anyway, at least as far as these particular rules go. Thanks for the clarification!
When will the results of the competition be available? Why set a deadline if you can't determine the result in two weeks? People have used the deadline the jury can't use two weeks of their term? This is not respect for the contestants!

Wed, Aug 16, 2023I'm just the messenger, so all I can do is apologize for the delay.
I do know they want to get things right before announcing the winners, which is respectful to all contestants.
Hopefully, in future contests, this can all get done in a more timely manner.

Quality of the honorable mention's outfit is questionable. I can't find any creativity of design or the complexity of the work. I don't think we should have called this a "Fashion contest" at this rate.

I believe that this work has remained undeservedly undervalued https://www.renderhub.com/forum/4530/garbage-bag-dress
There is an interesting concept and the presentation is just at the level of the show. I am very sorry that this work was not nominated.

Fri, Aug 18, 2023An artist can only win once per contest. This entry from that artist was chosen as an Honorable Mention:
https://www.renderhub.com/forum/4553/white-dress
They were both great entries, as were yours.

Sat, Aug 19, 2023I was also surprised that the "Garbage Bag Dress" didn't make it into the finalists, considering it's one of the most fashion-oriented works. While the idea itself isn't exactly my preference, the thoughtfulness and implementation were top-notch. To be honest, this contest has left me quite confused regarding its winners. Perhaps behind the scenes, there wasn't a clear understanding of the orientation of this competition, given that digital fashion and character creation for game development are quite distinct, even though they intersect
Congrats to all! Amazing talent here. Shout out to all Blender fam hehe.. The entries using Marvelous Designer definitely sparked my interest in learning it
