Congratulations to the winners!
It was an incredible turnout for the contest, with about 450 submissions - so thank you to everyone who participated.
The owner would like me to pass along an apology for the delay in the announcement, and for the extra suspense that caused.
We will be in contact with the winners so the prizes can be sent out.
In case you haven't seen it yet, there are two new contests going on right now. Hope to see you there, too!

Thank you for the opportunity for the contest. I did enjoy making my entries and seeing all the great entries.
Feedback on this one that I feel might need to be said, is moving forward on contests like this one, can you please create different competition classes such as beginner, intermediate, and master levels. There is no way someone who basically can put stuff together in Daz can compete against someone who literally can create everything from scratch. When I realized that my entries were going to be up against entries created completely from scratch, there was no way mine would come even close to winning. Moving forward, if there isn't going to be a breakout between levels of ability, then there is no reason for me to even try. I don't have time to learn everything from taking a basic item and creating a complete scene from it. I consider myself at the intermediate level and I can do some things, but not everything from creating to texturing to the whole thing. Here's the thing, I know that this is Renderhubs contest and they can do what they want and I can choose to enter or not. But again, when I realized i was going to be competing against master level artisans, then my chances were null and void. Again, this is just my opinion and input on this past contest. Thank you again for the opportunity, I really do appreciate it.

Sun, Apr 23, 2023I agree , I did not understand completely the rules of entry till it was too late. I felt it was a waste of time and my chances of getting anywhere was nil. Iam only an intermediate skilled user of Daz Studio only and I know nothing about the other 3D programs. To create something from scratch would be impossible for me .

Mon, Apr 24, 2023I thought I might just add that I buy all my assets like many of us here do. If I could create them, I would save a heap of money. Maybe the contest should have been for limited few who are more like professionals or vendors.

Mon, Apr 24, 2023It is true that a self-taught amateur has no chance of winning in a competition when there are also professionals.
In addition there are competitors who are just Daz users and others who know how to model in 3D
On the other hand, you have to know the reason for participating in a competition. Is it to win a prize or for the pleasure of creating an image on an imposed theme that inspires us?

Wed, Apr 26, 2023Hi there. I'm not sure if "classes" would solve the issue.
What would prevent a "master" from entering the other classes, and who (or what) would determine a person's eligibility for each class?
I agree that people with more experience in 3D modeling definitely had an advantage in this contest - but that's what this one was all about.
RenderHub has had three recent "non-modeling" contests, which does level the playing field.
I'm pretty sure we'll see more of those coming up. Don't worry, there will be more opportunities for everyone.

Wed, Apr 26, 2023I just started a new forum thread for general contest discussion. Feel free to share your thoughts there, if you want.

Sun, Apr 30, 2023The WIP that people provide would show the level that they are capable of. Nothing would stop them from entering the other classes except honesty, and I guess we shouldn't expect people to be honest. I don't have the answer for how to make sure people would only enter at the level they should, I would just have to use the honor system. But I'm learning more everyday that those that honor an "honor system" are getting fewer and far between these days. It's kind of like NASCAR. The average person just doesn't take a car and go drive in a NASCAR race, they know they wouldn't win. Most start out driving in go-carts, then work there way up to Sprints/dirt track racing and then maybe make it to the NASCAR level.
In regards to DoroThee237. I agree that each of us is going to have a different reason for entering as for some it is the pure challenge of seeing how good they can do, while for others (including myself) I really could have used the cash.
I liked/like creating my works that I did and I have noticed some pretty decent strides in my renders from where I started back in 2018. But, based on my level versus the ones who did win in the contest, I'm not even close to their level and can't possibly believe that I'll ever be able to beat someone with that kind of skill in this arena. Even if I did enjoy making the renders, I can't afford to expend a weeks worth of effort on an entry that won't ever come close to the level of complexity that someone who can go from a box, to full scene can do. I don't want to take away from that person's mastery. This post is not about saying they shouldn't have won. I just can't afford to expend the amount of effort that I did for a contest that I know I will zero chance of winning. I'm ultimately trying to get to the point where someone may want to buy one of my renders/my art as I would like to make money from my craft, but I think that I'm too late to the train, to get on board like others have been able to do. I'm 52 and only just started doing this kind of stuff in 2018, after I had a heart attack.
I apologize for stirring up controversy, I was just trying to give feedback. I have appreciated these contests, because they offer the highest payouts of all the sites I know. I just also know that I can't compete against master level artisans who can literally create an entire scene from a box. I did note that the same person has won the horror contest and this one based on the amount of skill they have and they should have won, based on the criteria for the contests. I just know that if the criteria in the future contests continues to be like the horror and the sexy robot contest, then there will be no need for me to bother entering anymore as I will never win no matter how good of a scene I can do, because I can't make an entire scene/render from a box. It would take me years to get to the level that some folks on here are at. And, if I could do like what they could, I would be doing this full time and getting paid a hell of a lot of money to do it on a regular basis.
I didn't mean to "stir the pot", I just need to make sure I focus my energy/time where I can get the most impact. Again, I appreciate the opportunity to enter the contests that have come before, and wish everyone the best at what they do. I've seen some awesome entries.
Thank you for your feedback on my post Foxy 3D, I appreciate the thoughtful response. You've always been fair and equitable in all that I've seen you do. I truly mean that.
I wish you all a good afternoon. Don't forget to stop and smell the roses, life is short and it will pass you by very quickly. Cherish every moment the best you can.

You never have to apologize for sharing your opinion and giving feedback here at RenderHub.
It's definitely not creating controversy or stirring the pot.
Thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate it.
The owner wants RenderHub to be very community oriented, so I try my best to stay on top of what users want.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I have a long list of ideas and feature requests that come from users.
I have added your idea and a link to this thread to my list.

Tue, May 02, 2023Cool. No worries!
It was just feedback. I know that not all feedback/ideas are feasible or able to be implemented, and appreciate the info.
Have a great afternoon.

Have a great afternoon.

I like the winning scene... and I'm soooo picky. Nicely done. As for 'classes' of artists... here's my 2 cents, and you better appreciate it cos now I'm flat broke.
If you want to enter, do so. And yes, some ppl may have more 'training', experience, and more software and maybe even years of collage (sorry couldn't resist) to hone their skills and know where things can be done to maximize the WOW factor, but, so what?
If you're not that "trained", well, you have something they may have lost as they walked the streets of the almighty textbook and that, my friends, is called not thinking like "they" think. You just ain't saddled with all that they have to carry around in their bag, or that bag ! You have your noodle, right there on top of your neck and if you haven't been smashing your face against barbed wire you also have binocular vision. And that means, you can see. And if you can see, you can see in more ways than a radio telescope. Screw the norms! Drown those demos of all those expensive pieces of software you've been fighting with. Scrap the golden rations and have some flat ass pancakes. And do something original and throw it out there like a golden cow patty and post it with pride. And then.. do it again.
You don't need perfect lighting, you need a damned good moment; cos that's what these usually are... moments in time, frozen. And yes, some have huge penises and some don't obey gravity and some are in Swahili, but that's okay cos its not YOUR stuph. Your stuph is in your noodle. All you need is to drink a shitload of some cheap ass whiskey till you have freed yourself of expectation and just spew your ideas into Daz till it screams. And let's face it.... making Daz scream, is SHITLOADS of fun.
So vive l'indifference!
Oh, and have fun. If you're not having fun... I promise, we'll see it.
