How do you price your product? (CLOSED)
241Hi all!
While I'm waiting for a response from technical support to my question.
I would like to know your opinion on the topic of pricing for content.
On the one hand, I want to make the product available to more people.
On the other hand, a person needs an incentive to continue doing his job.
I have very little experience in this matter.
How should the price of a product be influenced by such factors as: the complexity and quality of the content, the commission of the trading platform and the demand for the product itself?
I'm preparing a product for release and would like to know. What is missing in terms of visual information about the product?

This looks freakin' cool! This is based upon your Sexy Robot Contest entry, right?
I'm looking forward to seeing this in the marketplace.
As far as pricing goes... You're right, that can be difficult - especially for things like this.
I usually suggest to vendors here that they check the pricing for similar things on the Daz3D store, and then price the product here just a bit lower.
"...What is missing in terms of visual information about the product?..."
In my opinion, I think you have it covered. You present an exciting product and clearly show the multitude of options available.
And the turntable video is the icing on the cake. Nice job.
FYI - Regarding your Support message - I replied with an update there for you.

Fri, Apr 28, 2023Thank you, the question to technical support has moved off the ground. I hope after some time I will find out if they can help me with my problem.
Yes, you are right, this is also a robot from the competition. I spent a lot of time fixing bugs with the bones, even giving the work to 2 people to test. But it seems they did not even pay attention to those shortcomings that were unacceptable for me. And frolic as they wanted. xD
Some people on other forums were interested. "Are the parts of the helmet movable or are they several different models?"
I concluded that it is better to supplement this information with a small addition to the video. All the same, it was not in vain that I made a personal skeleton for a helmet.

Hey Tark, i think you must render 4 -5 more images of the product with different poses, color and light, one seems little to me, but i don't want to make you work anymore
The presentation of colors and details is perfect i think.
For the price i see similar models for 18 - 20 here...
I hope this can help you, regards

Sat, Apr 29, 2023Thanks for your reply. Making a few extra renders is not a problem. I have time while I wait for help from tech support.
Good renders sell products
Character renders of the product being used with different characters and with different options is always a good idea
Something like this I'd want to know about the material zones on the outfit so I know what I can do with it
Pricing, I don't know
Unless it's something I need now, I usually wish list items and wait for them to go on sale.

I know my question is off-topic for this thread, but I need to ask...
Do you like the new "Wishlist Items On Sale" list and notification features?

Mon, May 01, 2023Awesome! I won't keep hijacking the OP's thread, but thank you for letting me know.

WOW - awsome work. I am not a vendor at this moment, but i am an marketing expert in real life. So maybe i can give you some ideas how to find your price. In the marketing business we usually do it in this way:
1. count all your working hours together (the total time you worked on that project). For example 100 hours in total
2. now multiply your working hours with a 3d artist salary - for example 50 dollars per hour.
3. At this moment you get a total amount in dollars your work costs. Make a calculation about how many times you can sell this item. Maybe another artist let you know about his/her selling numbers.
4. Devide the total amount trough the numbers of "realistic" selling numbers - for example 100 sellings in the next 3 years
5. Now you have a price for your product. But....
This is a very easy and simple way to do it. But you need to look around. Are there other products like your product and answer the question: how can i sell 100 times in 3 years. This is in my opinion the important question. You need to advertise your product. Maybe you offer a freebie or what ever you like to do.
look here for a comparison pricing:

https://www.daz3d.com/nova-hd-morph-for-genesis-8-female

Good luck!

Before considering pricing, you have to consider how much your time is worth per hour. Of course that depends on your skill level.
And keep in mind, the majority of content sellers undervalue their worth, sometimes in an attempt to sell more units.
Based solely on the example you have shown, I'm going to guess that the average customer will expect to pay $25, and if that's what you end up selling the product at, you're gonna have to sell somewhere in the range of 12-20 units to break even. And I can guarantee that $25 per hour would be a lowball pay rate for you, if it took you less than a full work week to make this and have it ready for a Studio user. Because getting something fast and quality, isn't cheap. And you probably use tools that cost money.

I-Pixel explained very well the theory that is put into practice by companies. This theoretical price is still to be modulated according to "the competition that exists on the market" also according to the status of the seller.
3 cases are to be taken into account
*) the seller is a professional and wants to make a living from it
*) it's just an additional income
*) it's a hobby, the goal is not to earn money but if it brings an income it's a welcome bonus
