Artists selling their models (CLOSED)

I can't figure out why they display "Model A" in a bikini and cute hair that is perfect., but doesn't tell you what they are. It's fine that the model doesn't come with the bikini or hair. BUT why can't they say "Not included with model, but Hair X, and Bikini Y used used in renders". I mean their using these things to sell their model it's the look in the advertising that most people actually want when they buy it. Also kind of a pain to look through eight thousand hair styles to find the same one!

I know what you're talking about, this happened to me at the beginning when I was learning about daz, I had seen a piece of clothing or a decorative element from the promo image that I liked and that I was never able to have because I didn't find it!
On RenderHub sellers are more attentive to their buyers and if you ask them in a private message you have a very good chance of getting an answer that helps you. This happened to me with a buyer who had seen a pair of shoes that he liked and that I had obtained on another site, I gave him the link.

Sun, Dec 31, 2023Thank you. I will ask them. I really like the artists here, they seem to be more attentive to the users than other sites.
For me, I don't really use anything out of the box. All the characters that appear in my renders I dialed up myself using various combos of morphs, even popping into zbrush to tweak things that my morph dials can't do. Clothes are often kitbashed from various sets and even retextured.

Mon, Jan 01, 2024You have learned zbrush and blender which allows you to create and modify what you have downloaded.
But maybe since frebirth starts in 3D, he doesn't dare to start creating decor, clothes, etc.
I think his suggestion is that character morph creators put the names of the clothes and hair used in the promo images

Wed, Jan 10, 2024I can say, the sooner the better. But that's of course up to the artist. Some will never take that step and that is fine. But I believe that every 3D artist should take a shot at something, even if it's just making a custom pose and saving it, or doing light texture work. You'll learn something more than just loading a scene and some assets then pressing a button to render.
If that's all the artist wants to do, of course that's fine. Just saying that you aren't gonna grow at all.

Vendors are not required to list other items used in their promo images.
In many cases, it would be impractical to keep track of all of the items used.
In other cases, a vendor might not even know this information. Some vendors use promo artists and would have to get that information from them.
In any case, @DoroThee237 has the right idea.
RenderHub is just as much a community as it is a marketplace. Many vendors are happy to provide this information if you ask them.

As a seller, I only think I used "item X" or "hair x" is not included a couple of times, but in practically all other cases, I haven't identified the clothes, hair, even the setting (when there is one in the promos).
There have been many times I've been privately messaged by a buyer asking what something in the promo scene for a particular character was, and I'd get back to them with the info, and I would, as DoroThee237, give them a link if it was another site where I had purchased the item.

I am not saying that they SHOULD do it, but just asking that if possible to do so, please consider how much the consumer will appreciate the information, and maybe even look at your work more favorably for making the extra effort.
Sorry if I caused ill will with anyone here, just tired of looking for hours for a hair used on a model and not finding it anywhere.
(Especially if the model was shown with the hair, and that combination is what made me buy it. I am usually very disappointed when that happens and think twice next time.)

Tue, Jan 02, 2024As a self-taught amateur I try to make objects that I would have liked to find when I was a beginner in 3D.
I think that many sellers listen to buyers' suggestions which allow us to better respond to their requests

As I've been selling characters now since 2015 or 2016, I got COUNTLESS messages from people asking what hair was this one, what outfit was that one that around 2017 or 2018 I just adjusted my workflow to keep a list that I now include on all of my product pages.
It's honestly not a lot of extra work, at least how I make my models, but in case any other sellers are reading this and would like to know, here's my workflow...
I start off with a master text file that I then copy/paste/edit for each new model I make, this file I normally just call "info" and it contains the text write up I will post on the product page, a list of hair and clothing, a list of any merchant resources I used if I used any, and a list of keywords that I will use when submitting the product.
Now, once I had the morphs created for the character, then I create the skin and the various presets (eye colors, eyeliners, eyeshadows, lashes, nails, blushes, lip gloss etc) once all that is done I then create the "main promo look" I pick the hair (copy / paste the name to my info sheet. Next I do the same with the clothing for that look.
Once I have the hair and outfit picked out for the main promo look I save out a "scene subset" with JUST that model, hair and outfit, and I normally name them 0_hair_name_outfit_name (the only thing that really matters though is the 0 - 5 so I know the proper order of the subsets.
I do this 4-5 more times, normally picking at least one short, medium and long hair, and the same with various outfits, the last one almost always is a swim suit to show off as much of my skin set as possible without having any nudity, but each time I setup a new look I copy/paste the hair and clothing names to my info file.
At some point while rendering my promos I'll take those hair and clothing names in my info sheet and pop them into google with + Daz3D and almost 99% of the time the product is the first result, I open up that page and I copy the full proper name of the product, and the vendor name and I replace that with the temp name on my info file.
When I submit the product it's all there and ready to copy/paste, and as long as my buyers can read, they can see the clothing and hair listed, AND those know me, know that most times the order listed is the order they appear in the images
Hope that helps someone

Wed, Jan 03, 2024Thank you for the organizational suggestion that we can transpose when we propose clothing with the character's name, hair and other clothing used
New seller here. I include an attribution file with my products that has everything broken down by merchant resources, royalty free use, and items used in promos. The list gets pretty long and I also include links when available. Not sure if I should also include it in the product page since it has links to other platforms. So far I've only had one person still ask me what hair a character was wearing.

Beating the dead horse here. Was dealing with people asking what I was using in renders all the way back in 2007. After a while I quit attributions and looking up what I used in a 3 year old render. Because it's not my job to advertise for free, on the spot. If someone wants to spend the time I'm of course ok with that. But it isn't something that should be expected. The old guard over at Renderosity really had a collective bug up their rear regarding attribution and I voiced my opinion on the matter in the private vendor forums. Let's just say that I was not popular.
The best you can do is just ask. And hope for accurate product descriptions. We've all been "conditioned" to put out finished compositions to help sell our assets. Personally I'd be fine with just a rendering of what's being sold. For instance there's been a dude making hair for a very long time, and he takes a basic figure and renders her wearing the hair in question. Just a base figure. And he also has renderings of just the hair, and a few illustrating some of the motions rigged into the hair model. Completely eliminates the question of "what pair of boots are those in the picture" kind of thing.
