...include complete textures! As in... textures for the figures' genitals (anatomical elements, "toast", whatever...)
(Adult figures that is. Figures of children would be an exception.)
As an artist, there is nothing more frustrating to me than to purchase a figure, and to find out that it's incomplete.
Sites like DAZ3D and Renderosity each have vendors that list whether or not their figures include textures for the genitals or not but this seems to be such a rarity here (there are exceptions) that I rarely if ever buy figures here because unless the product description explicitly says that the figure comes with complete textures then I have to assume that it doesn't.
I know I'm not alone here.
Vendors, if you want me to purchase your figures, include textures for the figures' genitals, and if you already DO include them, make sure you list them in the product description!

For G9 I am in complete agreement. The G9 anatomical element is so far all I use with G9 figures and there is no easy way to copy the skin materials to the element.
For G8 I use Golden Palace which has its own script for copying the figure mat, so I don't worry about the genital map with them, just that the skin is good and renders well under a variety of lighting conditions.

As bikdingle suggested: why not replace the boring "DAZ Anatomical Elements" with the great products from Meipe (Golden Palace, etc)? Then you wouldn't have to miss out (for whatever reason) on the fantastic models you can get here.

Sat, May 04, 2024I'd like to disagree on that.
DAZ Female Genitals are much better to use, than they look like at first sight.
While Meipe's golden Palace is detailed, it is not yet perfect in its anatomical details, which could be fixed in a morph, but there are weight mapping issues, that have never been fixed, that lead to distortions on custom characters.
After all, I'm always returning to the old DAZ Genesis 8 Genitals.

The suggestion for using other products doesn't work that well for male products. The meipe solution only takes the torso uv and stretches it over the gens then puts a geoshell overlay on top. Not really the best solution. There is a free product that does the same thing except for the overlay in the freebie section in the DAZ forums.
I don't think it should be hard for these vendors to add the gens materials to their products since many characters I bought here are using merchant resources that have them... i shouldn't have to buy them then color match the gens from MR products they used.

Plenty of figures are up front about not having all textures.
Gens can get complicated because different gens use and treat textures differently.

My character's include complete textures. I thought that is standard now especially for G9.

Sun, Apr 07, 2024You should update your product pages and list that then. I just checked your store and went to several of your product pages for Female Characters and Male Characters and ... while I didn't check all of your products ... I did check a few ... and none of the product pages (for both G9 and G8) tell me that you include textures for the genitals.
From my stand point, as the customer, I have to assume something is not included unless it is explicitly listed.
From my stand point, as the customer, I have to assume something is not included unless it is explicitly listed.
Saying anatomic textures are included, like saying a full character preset is included, adds more "stuff" to the product. At some point the product has to justify the price you're paying. If it doesn't say it's included don't assume it is and mentally adjust the price you are willing to pay for it.
(If the price point for the new character is good) Re-skinning should be an option. After all, many of the skins and the anatomical textures they match have a pretty generic look. In those cases, you just need one generic skin with anatomical textures and you're good. Other skins have their drawbacks too, I had one that I liked only to see it adopt a grey hue in certain lighting.
Original question: Yes, because that product includes a little more than a character product that doesn't mention including it.

I've never thought of it as that big a deal. Some characters I buy only for the skin, some I buy only for the morph. If anything, I'd love to see stand-alone skins the way you can character morphs. Give me more of a palette without clogging up my data folder and thus load time.

Mon, Apr 08, 2024Sure, yeah, vanilla skins with no makeup or extras, intended to be detailed by the end user and distributed with a model. Incomplete.
Said it elsewhere, but I'll say it here, too. I will hold off on purchasing a character unless the vendor provides at least a front and rear nude. I'm not talking about porn, here -- just a preview of what the character's full material set will look like. Yeah, I know DAZ doesn't do that -- never has, and probably never will, and I just have to accept that -- but every other site does, and it's really appreciated.

Sun, Apr 07, 2024That would be nice. I would ask to add a side profile and if the skin isn't of the common "air brushed" variety, a couple of lighting shots (how does it look in white light and outdoor HDRI's).

Thu, Apr 18, 2024DAZ just released its "Cheyenne" for Genesis 9 character, and for the first time ever that I can recall, a DAZ store release actually DOES contain a front and rear nude preview. Still not sure I want it, tho' -- most Genesis 9 females, including this one, still have what Vee calls the "California Innsmouth look".

Thu, Apr 18, 2024CORRECTION: SEMI-nude. The breasts are bare, but the preview does not show the genitals texture.
Not all customers like to buy characters for porn, nor do they like to see cocks and asses in all the products, if someone wants cocks and vaginas, go and buy them from their 'authorized' seller, each seller has their own type of clientele. For my part, don't expect that in my products.

Mon, Apr 08, 2024I think it's a case of "the more you have the more you can do". I agree, not everyone wants to do porn or nudes - and some characters aren't suited for it, but I think most would rather they be visually unsuited than technically unsuited. For me, they're not dealbreakers, though it can limit my options.

Well ... for me this niche would actually be too small (and the demand therefore void) if I were to create models myself.

Maybe a bit off topic - but let's talk about art and artists ... and maybe I'm closing the circle (back on topic).
What determines art? Self-assessment? Self-overestimation? Self-whatever?
Or isn't one aspect of art also the will to deal with obstacles and let them become part of the art project?
Who knows - who cares ... (here!) .... but ...
I haven't shown much genitalia in my promos for a long time (although I make most of my money with porn props like poses, clothes or bodily fluids). It's just too boring. Instead, I just look for camera angles that "hide" the boring dicks and pussies. It's not only fun, but also makes the promos more interesting.
So why demand genitalia (or rather: genital textures) for every single model on the disc, when a real artistic approach could be to "hide" the primary sexual organs (and maybe even the secondary ones) by skilfully constructing a scene?
Need an example?

Actually, the OP isn't about art or imposing requirements of vendors. They were simply sharing with vendors what for them is an important factor in choosing a figure.
Pretty simple. Vendors can choose to include what the OP is asking for or not.
They also suggested it would be helpful if vendors specify that genital textures are included. Again, simply a choice for vendors to consider. Information about what is important to a customer might be of value to artists who sell their work.
For me, not having the genital textures isn't a deal breaker; I'll buy a figure if I like it. I can always add the genitals using other assets, and still enjoy the amazing work of the vendors here on RenderHub.
I apologize if I've offended anyone. I own products from some of the vendors who have participated in this thread, and I value their work.

Mon, Apr 08, 2024Thank you! This is *exactly* the point I was making.
I'm not asking for every figure to include genitals. All I'm asking for is if vendors DO include textures for the figures' genitals then to please add it to the product description.
Nothing more, nothing less.

this is why I always like seeing the character fully nude before I buy them and to see if the nip textures match the rest of the skin texture some times they look like they don' t go with that character , I don't do a lot of nudes or close-up's but when I want to I'd like it as real as possible.

The problem here is the title of your publication, as simple as just having asked for this, and not threatening 3D artists.

The discussion is (probably) important ... but the rude, arrogant and inappropriate way in which the TO presents his concerns (and also wants to incite others) really pisses me off ... although I personally don't create models or model morphs.
The thread could have been written in a completely different and friendlier way - also (and above all) with respect for all the producers here who offer really great projects.

Tue, Apr 09, 2024I'm getting used to this, in the reviews, they still leave you bad reviews, trying to screw up your work, in fact I don't even care anymore, if they give me 5 or 1 star, it's irrelevant to me, what I see are the sales of the models, greetings.
I'm kinda neutral on this one but I'll give you a thumbs up. A third party gen will take care of the missing anatomical textures you're looking for. I basically buy characters for the skin texture and head morph and use a 3rd party gen so I don't really notice if the vendor supplies the anatomical textures. The thumbs up is because I really haven't been impressed with the promo renders and have found the product information lacking in general for quite a few of the vendors selling their products here. At least it saves me money.
As far as intent on why you need them? Who cares! Its 3D fantasy land! I actually slap a 3rd party gen on all my characters before I save them to a my character folder. Are the gens actually ever rendered in a final render? Very rarely, but I know they are there.

Mon, Apr 08, 2024I find it very good that you change the texture of a product, whether it is a character, a decorative element such as furniture or clothing. This proves that you have taken ownership of the product and customized it according to the final image you have in mind. As a seller this makes me happy

Tue, Apr 09, 2024I'm basically a straight up consumer that likes to make renders for my background and screensaver for my pc so I'm a big fan of material zones, lie makeup kits, clothing shaders and PBR shaders because its about the only way I have of making a render more personalized to my tastes.
I personally think it should be a requirement to list all that is included in the product, I've done it with 90% of my characters since late 2015.
It's easy and only takes a few mins, AND if you're smart, save one and use it as a template for the next ones, and it's honestly best for taking removing the guesswork from potential buyers.
As for gen textures I (reluctantly) DO include them for all of my adult characters, and I say reluctantly because most people I know who create adult content for G8 don't tend to use Daz's gens and instead you GP, NG, etc etc so I really wonder how many people are even use my gen textures BUT I include them anyway.
Below is the template I use on my pages, feel free to copy/paste on your products with your info OR just take out the bit about the gens and add it in
(Model Name) comes with all of the following:
1 custom head morph dial
1 custom body morph dial
1 add head shape preset
1 remove head shape preset
1 add body shape preset
1 remove body shape preset
1 add all shape preset
1 remove all shape preset
1 Fibermesh eyebrows with 10 color presets
2 skin sets (Default & Freckled skin)
1 Daz anatomical elements preset (Works for both skin sets)
X eye color presets + 1 DIY preset
X eyelash presets
X lipgloss presets
XX fingernail and toenail presets
XX L.I.E. presets including: X blushes, X eyeliners and XX eyeshadows
1 round nail morph with 3 size presets
1 square nail morph with 3 size presets
Hope that can help some

Here's the thing, Dicktator is fine if you're doing porn, but if you're doing renders of normal people then Meipe's cock and balls don't really work (for anything other than porn).
I don't do porn other than VERY occasionally. Like once or twice a YEAR. But I do renders of every day/ still life scenes and sometimes the scene and situation calls for artistic nudity.
But even if I was doing porn, the DAZ genitals are perfect for background characters or secondary and tertiary characters in a scene.
I like having the genitals because of the flexibility they provide me. Yes, I have all of Meipe's 3rd party genitals as well as some others, but it's all about the flexibility for me.
People probably wouldn't buy a car without a radio even if they planned to use Sirius XM or Spotify because sometimes you need to listen to the radio.
I consider a vendor creating a character that doesn't offer genital textures no different than a car manufacturer not putting a radio in a car.
(And I love your characters by the way.)
