David Heim started it. I want to finish it.

I've begun elaborating on David Heim's models of Heller & Vignelli's line of eatware called "Max".
Been re-working the algorithm-converted meshes (algorithm's do a shitty job); and adjusting sizes and proportions to make the pieces fit together that way I see the real life items fitting together on the internet; and creating more models for other items in the Max series.
So here's a batch of 'em:

I totally agree, the generated obj files are totally unusable, trying to rectify them takes more time than redoing from scratch

Tue, Mar 11Ya. And I keep getting suckered into thinking I can just tweak the mesh a bit and get it lookin' ok. But it always seems to take way longer to to do that than would have taken to just rebuild the item from scratch. Ugh!
I think I got all the Max eatware items now except for the napkin bundler rings and the ice bucket.

Tue, Mar 11Maybe I'll make content substance surfaces circle planes for the cups and bowls.
Test shot of drinking vessels stackin' up. That's the cream pouring thing on the top.

The mug got a glass shader. Heller actually offered them mugs in transparent plastic like that. I don't know how well transparent materials will work with some of the other pieces in this set. More experimentation will tell, I guess.

Nice work again, and before even reading the description I was about to comment that it looks like real plastic, and the transparent one especially looks like the same plastic used for those measuring cups.
I think it all looks really neat and has a cool minimalist design. Can't help but think you'd be totally in love with a program called 'Plasticity' too after seeing these.

Sun, Mar 16So I investigated the "Plasticity" program. The advantage I see in it is how easily it makes fillets, rounds and beveling. But, for the money, I'd likely just pay for a Blender add on that does that. But, I don't have the money for either option these days.

I hand't noticed you repleid to this, but just so you know it also works as a direct bridge to Blender. I've never used it that way but I believe it has an official Blender component that allows it to comminicate directly with Blender.
It's hard for me to explain why I bought it regardless of having blender, needless to say that once you really get into it and follow the tutorials one after another, you really get a feel for how poweful (and fast) it is as a modeler. It's one of those things that you don't realise you need (until you do), and you see someone else doing it in Plasticity with absolute ease.
I hearyou on the money thing though and I sympathise - it's the same here mate!

Very nice. Can't use it personally due to the licence, but I love what it is and the quality of it!
Ironic also that one low on cash offers it for free, too.
Makes me wonder if RenderHub ever considered a "Name Your Price" option for the Marketplace.

Thu, Apr 10As far as I'm concerned the license is CC-0. But I guess RenderHub does not offer anything like that for releases. I wish I could release this on ShareCG, but they is gone.

Thu, Apr 10And as for me charging money, I feel really uncomfortable with that. I don't regard my offerings as professional level. I'd feel like a fraud asking for money.

Thu, Apr 10Psssst! Hey... bypass RenderHub's licensing by downloading the exact same model here: https://www.deviantart.com/luqu/art/Dining-Set-Heller-Vignelli-Max-V1-1181695067
