Can anybody create some straight long realistic strand based dforce hair for Genesis 8 Female?
There is a lot out there for G9, but none of those are availeble for G8F.
There are several by Art Ken, which are great, but again G9 only.
I need that quality hair for G8F. Conversions don't help, for it is loosing all its dforce properties in the process.
So please...

Or dforce polygon Hair as well.
As a guide line:
Take this hair
https://www.daz3d.com/everyday-updo-2-hair-for-genesis-3-and-8
and imagine, what it would look like if you'd put the hair down. How would it fall on her shoulders?

Can't help directly since I'm using G9, but as long as you don't mind a slight wave to the long hair then I recommend this one from Linday:
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-classic-blowout-hair-for-genesis-8-and-81-females
I hate the default materials and shader settings for it, but the hair itself is one of my favourites. And although I've not tried it yet, I'm guessing that if you adjust the dForce settings then you would be able to control the wave of the hair to the point of making it almost if not completely straight.
This hair is designed for G8/8.1 anyway, but I used it on G9 without an issue (it even retained the dForce settings after load conversion to G9). Either way, good luck in your search for nailing the right hair for the job. It's pretty much an impossible if not arduous task, and I totally feel your pain!

I use a clone: https://www.daz3d.com/mmx-genesis-9-clones-for-all It isn't 100%; but gives you a better chance to use G9 hair and clothes on your G8 models.. One issue I've ran across is clothing attachments (buttons and the such sort of float).

I am picking up this old Hair rant up again.
Important:
Forget about strand based dforce hair. Too slow, to ugly and although most recent SBH look great, they are for G9 only, which I've totally deleted recently.
Here is what I need:
I need polygon hair
I need dforce polygon hair
and
I need the shader quality of polygon OOT hair
I need long blond straigt left parted hair with longer bangs.
like this one, but just in modern high quality. High Quality!

Please do not recomand Lindey again.
Although Linday hair on average is good hair, it is still below MY quality expectations.
And please do not recomand OOt hair
Although polygon based OOT hair looks absolutely stunning, when it comes to materials, yet there is no hair type that matches my needs and is still dforced.

If OutofTouch and Linday are not meeting your standards, what hope is there for finding someone else?

I think the worst part is when you need something specific, as then you'll find everything but what you need, and the worst part is when you find something you could use were it not for some key something.

Wed, Aug 20Absolutely . Crazy, how every vendor makes it to go exactly beyond of what I need.
I used to create content based on requests, back in the early days of marketplace selling, and sales were always very low. We are presently in an economy when very few people are spending, It may be time again for people to learn how to make content, and then mature into a new generation of top tier content creators.
Unfortunately, the challenge of making specific requests is that the sales numbers don't often come anywhere close to the hours invested in creating the product.

Fri, Aug 29Waaaay back in the early days of Poser, it was like that. There was a large network of folks making items just for the fun of it, it was a hobby and if they sold a few things, that was fun too. The over commercialization has ruined it.
I've been making 'stuff' for a while but I never seem to finish anything as I either lose interest or start something else. Still, it's fun and I'm sure that there's plenty of others in the same boat.
What might work better is to get together with one or more people who have different talents but the same goal.

No worries. I only recommended the Linday hair since it's more flexible than you might think. I quite like it to be honest. I hate the default hair shader/material settings that came with it though. It would also be nice if my computer had more horse power to handle a pose simulation quicker.
With OTT, I like the hair in general but feel that the hair strands are always a bit too thin by default, too uniform and polished-looking. But anyway, I hope you find something soon, and think it's good that you're picky even if we are six months down the line

Just goes to prove what I said in that other thread though. How ridiculous it is that in a program specifically designed for working with human figures, we are even having these conversations at all. I absolutely share your frustration.

Sat, Aug 30d-force you can learn, takes a little effort. Mats can easily be replaced with universal materials for hair. Loads of universal materials out there. But my suggestion is, learn to model your own hair, create your own material and dive into rigging, because nothing will ever meet your high standards.
Hi have you tried any FE ,their hair is always easy to handle , has lots of styles and colours , does not go all thin and transparent like some when you render them .
I have many of their styles . You can always juggle them about a bit when styling.
https://www.daz3d.com/fe-modern-long-hair-for-genesis-9-
They have four pages of different styles. You can also use alot of your own textures to put on their hair ive done this successfully

Sat, Aug 30Thank you.
I do need a straight long blonde hair with bangs dforce, G8F only and polygon based at high quality.
There is no hair availeble matching ALL the criterias.
I know that, for I have spend a hell lot of money on a lot of hairs already.
I tried to convert hair to polygon hair without success, because of all things the higher quality hairs are extremely difficult to convert.
Hair groups are often to close to each other and keep intersecting, which makes a propper weight painting impossible.
You will end up with scattered hair pieces all over the scene.
Again thank you guys for answering. and I keep looking into your suggestions.

If the hair you want is out there for G9, why not just buy the G9 version and use the automatic adaption that kicks in when you try to load an asset designed for a different figure?
As far as I'm aware, G3, G8 and G9 are widely compatible in that sense. I actually get better results from a one-piece swimsuit that was designed to fit G3, when I fit it to G9 instead. It even helps to get rid of those annoying air bubbles that trap under dForce clothing. So mixing like that can actually improve matters sometimes (depending on what it is of course).
That said, I'm having issues of my own trying to find a suitable hair style right now. I was going to ask about it in this thread but I don't want to side-track your own search, so I'll start my own. But even something as popular as bob-like hair, even that's a problem, because there seems to be every damn type of bob imaginable, apart from the type I want!

That would explain it.
I actually suspected a forum glitch.
(which there is, the missing option to edit posts)

I did, my apologies. The only way I can edit a post on here is to copy the text of the post, then delete it, then paste the post back into a new reply, do my edit, and finally repost the reply
Even then, you can only do that on standard posts, not reply posts. So for example I woud not be able to edit this post if I were to infest it with my appalling typos!

Sat, Aug 30allrighty, let's try again
So, Some G9 hair look very much, what I'd like to see, but I abandoned SBH dforce hair entirely , for they are memory hogs. Scenes slow down too much.
Auto converting from G9 to G8F doesn't work, because those SBH hairs loose their dforce dynamics in the process.
This feature is for vendors only.
I know, that I am extremely picky here.
I do know, what I want.
Polygon hair, dforce for G8F and looking like this:

Sat, Aug 30Yeah, any excuse for you to post another picture of Agnetha
And anyway, you're not going to like this, but I still think the Linday hair I pointed out in my first post is your best bet.
Check this image, open it in another tab and view full size:

Note the example on the bottom row, second and third from the left, They have to be one of the best looking straight hairstyles I've seen (is regards to shape), and because it's dForce and polygonal, you can do a mixture of letting it drape itself, and using the old version of Mesh Grabber to pull it into shape wherever it pisses you off.
It's also Genesis 8 by default, so surely that means the only problem left is the shader itself, but maybe you could take the settings from your favourite hair, and bring them over to this hair to fix that. I don't mean dForce settings or anything, I just mean the shader settings.

If you don't have the Genesis 9 to Genesis 8 auto converter (which comes with the publishing build), here's what you can do.
-- Load your G8 character into the scene.
-- Load the G9 hairstsyle in, but DO NOT conform it. Just add it to the scene.
-- Select the hair and use the YTrans and Z Trans dials to move the hair into place.
-- Then right-click the hair and choose "Change (hair name) Parent.
-- Use the Change Parent dialog to select G8 figure's head.
That should work.
