3D Render by EverwildDear Renderhub, of all the updates and improvements you could make to the gallery/forums ... autocorrect was not one them. Spellcheck works just fine for those of us inclined to take the half second necessary to correct our mistakes... (Just sayin'.) However, an edit button for our forum posts/gallery responses would be lovely. (Although I do think I need to say thank you for the reparations to the whole punctuation system around here, half of which we couldn't use but has definitely improved. I'm holding out for brackets still, but I'll take what I can get...Thank you.)
Daz's very girl-centric March Madness sale (I'd say "extremely" but I did get Kooki99's Donatien and I lubs him so very much) left me a bit salty -- where the heck do you folks find all the amazing guy clothes you use?
Anyhow, I decided to get even by picking my LEAST favorite Gen 9 model (HH Scarlett) and making the worst of that sex-doll wannabe as I possibly could while experimenting with camera settings -- specifically focal length. I shot this one at 125mm and one at 300mm, but honestly, other than the latter looking a little closer, I can't tell the difference between the two. I *think* wide angle shots exaggerate facial features (the "fisheye" results), but it remains a mystery.
All the while, however, Daz snuck in and turned the tables on me -- curse you and your little dog, too! Somehow I got nearly photo realistic results. I DON'T KNOW HOW. Gen 9 eyes definitely render better up close than Gen 8/8.1, but that could also easily be something I'm doing that I'm not aware of, plus I get weird eye gaps in Gen 8 around certain poses. But this is definitely not the Scarlett with whom I began. I did change her eye color to suit her hair (and Scarlett's own eyes are borderline "uncanny valley" to me.)
So I suppose, in all, one can say I've been hoisted by my own petard. Alas. Alack... and back to the drawing board.
Do not give up. Or give in. Living well is always -- will *always* be the best revenge.
Muuuhahahahaaaaa,
Eve

I am so sorry that you are happy with how your render turned out *chuckles*. A
nd yes, male stuff is hard to come by, unless you want double breasted suits or army uniforms. I just used paulawbs' City Style outfit which I thought worked quite well, although ending up in a near army look in my image (must be the side pockets that trigger that).
If you are tired of the same Barbie girls, have a look at Feng's ladies - and alas - gentlemen.
And again, apologies for liking your render ;D

Tue, Apr 01I am so glad when people get sardonic humor. I picked up a couple of Feng's ladies through the sale, mostly because I can utilize them to make some of my more mature characters. I've got a decent enough grasp of portrait lighting now that I can at least churn out portraits that aren't embarrassing. These, I can post on the profile pages in the world building wiki while I strive to learn how to improve the rest of my skills.
I think I'm relieved also, to know that I'm not the only one who gets frustrated with Daz's focus sometimes. I realize sexy women market the best, but guys need some love-n-attention, too! (And Koo's guys just keep getting better and better. Donatien has a seam flaw in his textures, I think where the torso meets the thigh, but otherwise, he is absolutely gorgeous).
Thanks Maru for the feedback and the product info, too!

Funny how that works sometimes.

Such is life in the DAZ verse. The girls get scores of content and the guys get... a wide selection of girls to be paired with. At least some around here seem to be giving options for guys.
"Anyhow, I decided to get even by picking my LEAST favorite Gen 9 model (HH Scarlett) and making the worst of that sex-doll wannabe as I possibly could"
Wouldn't that be to put her in the most modest outfit possible? All those attributes just stuffed away for someone's imagination to contend with.

I laughed. So much. Thanks for that. HAVE SOME EYE CANDEH. (Or, well.... arm candy.) And you're right. Dressing her up to her eyeballs *would* be the better revenge. And I make fun of her, but I *have* used her when morphing other characters. She blends nicely at lower percentages. Maybe I just need to carve out a pin-up niche in my universe.
Thanks, MK!

I too, Must apologise for liking this render, and couldn't agree more on the lack of male clothes and characters.
This has however given me thought for my next Lovecraft related render, so thanks!

Tue, Apr 01Hey, it's YOUR fault I downloaded Shredder's lair to poke around with. I've had a Shredder environment on my wish list for a while, wondering if I could somehow tweak it enough to be one of my desert city sites. Now I will have the opportunity to experiment.
And now I'm totally curious what you've got planned. Waiting (im)patiently for the next installment! Thanks for the fun visit!

Tue, Apr 01Hehehe Nice, I'm actually about to pull the trigger and buy his newest asset for a spooky themed render later in the year
As for the Lovecraft one... Let's just say I am a Massive fan of his works, But i'm going to poke a bit of "Fun" at his outdated thoughts on certain things (But i'm still of the school that says he was a character of his time)

Not knocking HH in the least (I have quite a few of his models), but I would have bet my bottom dollar that was not Scarlett. The skin and eyes are superb. Two thumbs up on this one.

Sat, Apr 05I definitely didn't use her own makeup options and I morphed out a lot of the hyper-stylized parts to more "normal" girl, but she does have beautiful textures of her own. Her own makeup choices aren't bad, either, if you like the glam. Thank you. I loved being pleasantly surprised and sometimes eating a little crow can be a valuable lesson!
The changes you made certainly resulted in an eye-catching image.
P.S. I've eaten more than a few crows, myself. Funny, you sort of get used to the taste after a while.

Curse you and your little dog too.... love it. I like Gen 9 and now that I'm responding late, there's a new Daz Studio alpha that promises speed improvements in many areas. Just... it's alpha version so I'm not touching it. Last thing we all need is for scenes were currently working on, no longer working.

Thu, Apr 24One of the really amazing things, that I took for granted before I lost all those Jan - March files is that the LIE I used for her blush looks incredibly authentic. Blush over foundation and I can see the foundation. Alas, I dunno now whose LIE it was, because otherwise I'd be braggin' on them, too.
I worry a little about Daz trending towards AI reliance, so I am also avoiding the new alpha, but I hadn't considered it chewing up files while in those early stages. Yikes. I assume it runs independent of the stable Daz Studio release, though, so at least there's that.
Thanks gobs and oodles for your kind comments, Thomas. I always appreciate them.
