Synthetic Monarch Queen
3D Render by gabiFor my contest submission, I chose not to use facilitators such as Marvelous Designer or Clo3D in the creation of the geometries. The entire process was developed entirely from scratch in Blender. I started the modeling from a plane with clean quad topology, on which I gradually gave shape to each piece. Then, I manually sculpted all the details on the high poly mesh, performed the bake, and used the low poly mesh for creating the textures in Substance Painter, prioritizing a lighter and more efficient pipeline that ensured greater fluidity throughout the development.
My conceptual proposal was to create a contemporary and modern outfit in the puffer style, with inflated volumes and wrinkle details, but also reminiscent of medieval or renaissance elements, almost like an armor. This fusion between the modern and the historical guided my aesthetic choices, resulting in a look with an almost spatial appearance. To reinforce this atmosphere, I used metals and chrome finishes, including the mask covering the character’s face.
Some elements were removed in the final composition - such as the ribbons covering the character’s chest - as a purely aesthetic choice. Overall, it was a great challenge that required a lot of time manually sculpting all the details. The complete development of the look took about one to two weeks, while being carried out simultaneously with other projects. I hope you like it, and thank you for reading this far!
