Born Loretta Hodge, film actress Brenda Delane was a favorite among lonely US servicemen in the Second World War. Over the course of the conflict, she picked up the moniker "Battlefield Brenda" on account of her photographs being found in the haversacks and helmets of countless G.I.s on every major front and her frequent USO appearances near the frontlines. Here is one of her most popular photographs featured in a May, 1944 edition of "Tank" Magazine.
