Audi A7 Sportback 2018
3D Render by MrGhostsAudi A7 Sportback (2017) Render Description – 3D Visualization in KeyShot
Hello everyone! I'd like to share my recent experiment in creating a studio-quality CGI render of a car – this time, I chose a 2017 Audi A7 Sportback.
This is still a preliminary version, but it already has a good foundation. At this stage, I'm focusing on building the lighting scene and materials, but there are still some areas that need some work. In particular, I plan to further adjust the position of the light sources to further highlight the smooth lines of the body and the characteristic curves of the model.
The composition is currently dark, but in future versions, I want to try a light background – for example, pure white or bright gray. I also plan to change the color of the car itself: instead of black, I'll consider dark blue, deep emerald, or crystal white. The main thing is to maintain the contrast between the car and the background to create a striking and visually vibrant image.
I paid special attention to the materials:
- The bodywork is based on basic shaders from the KeyShot library, but with significant refinement: I adjusted the metallicity, roughness, and matte reflections to achieve a realistic paintwork effect.
- I made the tires rough and matte-gloss, preserving the driving effect. In the future, I want to try to preserve the newness of the rubber by removing the dirt detail and focusing solely on the texture of the rubber and tread. This will help me maintain the overall "studio" style and avoid overloading the composition with unnecessary elements.
- The lighting was created manually using the "Environment Lighting" system in KeyShot. I individually adjusted each light source to control highlights, shadows, and the overall atmosphere of the scene. After receiving the main render, I performed additional post-processing in Photoshop—slightly adjusting the color balance and contrast, and adding subtle details to enhance the image's depth.
The entire project—from scene creation to final rendering—took about one free evening (4-6 hours), with no rush and plenty of room to experiment.
This is still a rough draft, but I'm actively working on refining the details. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you all for taking the time to read my article. I'd also appreciate any criticism, both of myself and of the rendering, and your feedback on the final result.
