Story 3 of 3: La Résistance Romantique – Retaliation

The Interceptor Bot loomed ever closer. At any moment, it would transmit a signal to its master—a signal that would leave a trail impossible to erase. Atlana and Filan knew this all too well.

Firestorm hummed with intent. Atlana could tell Filan was ready to unleash it. Atlana tilted her head slightly, her mischievous smile returning like a spark in the dark. Filan’s optics flickered—and then, in one fluid motion, she drew the weapon and levelled it at the last Interceptor Bot.

In a flash, the non-sentient bot chirped and screeched as a gaping hole tore through its fore. Shards of protective glass alloy exploded across the balcony where the lovers stood.

The Bot hovered unsteadily, sensors sweeping, its prime directive unwavering: Apprehend. Neutralize. Report. It had calculated every variable—but one.

As Filan had surmised, it could not comprehend its own demise.
Like a dying star, the bot twirled and plunged into the city’s depths—a disappearing ball of flame.
