Wind Turbine GE-1.5-Megawatt Model (Smooth & Shark Denti

This is a 3D STL model of a GE-1.5-Megawatt Wind Turbine Modeled out. This model only includes the blade of the wind turbine. The model is ready for 3D printing by turning on Supports and Rafts and making sure the model is printed with the tip of the blade facing downwards.

3 files are included, one with the smooth surface of the wind turbine blade, one with a thin layer of shark denticles on the blade and another with a thicker layer of shark denticles on the blade.

Shark denticles have been praised and researched for their aerodynamic properties and incredible performance, with some even speculating that adding them onto objects like wind turbines may improve their aerodynamic properties and also improve energy output. Shark denticles act as vortex generators that increase lift and reduce drag, thus, improving aerodynamic performance. This blade model allows you to test the shark denticle configuration on wind turbine blades and indeed verify whether or not aerodynamic performance is increased. An increased aerodynamic performance will lead to greater power output, which means that the world of clean energy can be further advanced, with these wind turbines being able to power more houses with sustainable energy.

The blade profile data of the model can be found below:

Airfoil | Radial distance (m) | Chord length (m) |Thickness (m) | Twist angle (deg)
DU 40 3.525 4.48 0.67 13.5
DU 35 10.575 3.36 0.50 11.0
DU 30 17.625 2.52 0.38 8.5
DU 25 24.675 1.96 0.29 6.0
DU 21 31.725 1.68 0.25 3.5
NACA 64-618 35.25 1.56 0.23 2.0

These models can be used for demonstration of aerodynamic performance evaluation of shark denticle surfaces on wind turbines.
